Surgery is 3 weeks away & I am getting soooo NERVOUS!!!
I got approved for my surgery, and it is scheduled for March 20th. I will be getting the Realize Band. I am sooo excited! Looking forward to regaining my life! :) Has anyone on here had the Realize or LapBand done? I'd love to hear your stories and experiences! Send me a message or a friends add! :) (I am also sooooo nervous, I'm starting to feel it now!)
Hey, congrats on the surgery! I had the realize band on 12/1/08 and would do it over in a heart beat. My experience with the band has been great so far. I have lost 51 lbs so far. It is normal to be nervous, I was more excited than nervous though when it came down to it. If you ever have any questions don't hestitate to email me, everyone on OH is here as a support group. Good Luck!
I got aproved on Friday 2/26 after a peer to peer with my ins and dr. My date is set for 3/17, just right before you. I am sooo freaking excited, there are no words to express my excitement to soon not be morbidly obese as I have most of my life. Unfortunately, my excitement is only shared here becuase friends and family just don't see the point or are too busy. Anyways, if you need someone to talk to, I am here for ya. Heather
My surgery is this Friday, 3/6. Kind of nervous, considering my risk factors (OSA, high BMI, asthma), but the outlook without surgery is worse. I guess I may get a little more anxious as it gets closer, but now I'm just focusing on the high protein/low carb diet and trying to get my liver size down before surgery.
Best of luck to you.

That's the plan. There is a catch, though. I'm a revision from the old stomach stapling procedure. My staple line broke down years ago, allowing me to regain all the weight. However, there is small portion of the staple line in the middle that is still intact. Once he gets in, he may decide that it will interfere with the passage of food through the band. If that is the case, he's going to switch and do a bypass instead. The bypass was my least favorite choice, but I know a number of people that have had very good luck with it.
I'll let you know how it goes.
