Diarrhea

I had my band put in on January 6th.  I've had diarrhea for two days now.  Everything I eat (broth.jello.water...) makes my tummy gurgle and then I have to go.  The dr. said this is not common with the band and maybe I have some sort of bug or something.  I don't think it's a bug, but I don't know what it is.  He told me to take immodium, which has been helping.  Anyone else have this problem??

Because of all the pretein supplements I found out I was lactose intolerant post-op and suffered the same issues.  Milk (skim, puddings and cottage cheese..).  Have you drastically increased your milk intake?

I had the same issues... I figured that I was lactose intolerant and never realized it before.. it made drinking my protein drinks very hard.. Good luck...

I haven't even moved beyond the liquid diet yet...still on jello, broth and water.  I am lactose intolerant, but haven't had to deal with that yet.  I don't know what it is, but as long as I take the immodium which my dr. told me to take it's ok.

Liz, some people react to anesthesia and pain meds that way....could be you are simply working all that out of your system.  It can takes weeks to recover from the EFFECTS of surgery-not just surgery.
Good luck!

Hi Liza, i experinced the same thing, i think it was all the liquids and some time sugar free stuff have that effect on people. Drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated. Good luck

I had the exact opposite problem!  Stool softeners are a great help when that reappears!
