First mini-dump
It is called a PB (productive burp) by most. You just confused me with the use of a RNY word (dump) which is caused by sugar passing into the intestines to fast. Sorry I did not catch on.
I have not PB'd yet. Hoping I will not have to. I am able to eat anything I chew well right now and I like it that way.
Good luck Crystal
First fill 11/4/08 3cc's Second fill 12/19/08 2cc's
Third appt 1/27/09 rescheduled
Third fill 3/24/09 1 cc= Total 6cc's
I spend quite a bit of time on the "Over Fifty Forum" where most of them are RNY. I didn't really know what a dump was.
I guess I did not chew that bagel well enough. I had gotten too hungry. Should have started with the tomato soup to dull my appetite.
I just had my 3rd fill and it has definitely made a difference with restriction. But I am glad. Up to now I have just felt like I was doing it on my own.
I had my surgery Sept. 29th, 2008. When was yours????

:Hello my friend, sorry to hear you had a problem with eating bagels....hope all worked out well.
My mother had gastric bypass surgery about 10yrs ago, and still to this day has problems with certain foods, some days she can eat it with no problems, and then again some days it just does not agree with her and she throws up....even after 10yrs. I guess with these wls's it is a trial and error type situation....I am certainly not looking forward to those days....
I got a phone call from my surgeon's office the other day, needed one form that was not in my package to be submitted to my insurance company. While talking to the insurance manager at the office, I asked her a few questions about the lenght of time it would take to hear from the insurance company, she said it takes about 30 days to get a reply back from them. Also told me that most government BC/BS approve the lap band procedure. So, I should hear something about the middle of Feb, if not sooner, after all the preliminaries, should look at having my Realize band installed around april, which is fine with me.
I am a little apprehensive, of course, anything that is controversial, or out of the norm is a little unsettling...thinking about having a piece of plastic wrapped around my stomach, and hearing all the horror stories from some of the people here on OH, can't help but be a little nervous. No sense in getting all worked up about something until it happens. I know I need to do something about this tonage I am carrying around, tired of being tired, and out of breath. Also tired of wearing size 22/24...would love to be back in to a size 14/16!! Would love to be a normal size person again. Have not seen 140 lb since 1978 when I enlisted in the Navy at age 27!
Well, sorry for ranting and raving, don't know what got into me...let the fingers do the talking! LOL
Anyway, hope all is well with you and how is Scottsville these days? I just talked last night with a dear friend that lives in Charlottesville, we used to work together back in the 70's and have remained best of friends ever since. Sure was good to hear from her.
God bless and have a great day...farmgirl58

Hang in there. I have state government insurance and paperwork was submitted on evening of November 25, 2008 and received approval the next day. Like you I am ready to be a normal size again. I have friends who have had WLS and they assure me that all of the hoops you jump through for the insurance approval pay off hundred fold when you begin to lose weight.
Good luck farmgirl!!
Good luck farmgirl!!
I've been taking it a little easy the past day or two. I have always loved bagels and will probably try them again but not for quite a while.
Good to hear you are getting closer to your procedure. I would still do it again in a heartbeat. Best thing that has ever happened to me. But it does change your life.
I was in a 24 before surgery and now a size 20 is beginning to get loose so things are happening! It has been quite a while since I was this weight, back in the mid 90's.
Scottsville is still going strong. We have a new Food Lion and I have heard we are getting a McDonald's (just what I need) meanwhile you have to walk about 1/2 mile to get your mail. But I need the exercise. I feel sorry for the little old people though.
Keep in touch and know that you are getting ready to do something that is very good for you!
