had my Realize Band on 12/10/08 and at first I wasn't able to eat anything, but now I feel like I can eat everything.  I want to eat my old food, I feel so deprived from the foods that I used to eat.  I don't see my dr. until Jan. 5th, should I tell him what I am doing?  I have wanted this for so long, now I am messing it up.  It's like I can't control my hungar.  I thought that's what the Realize Band was supposed to do.  I don't know what I am doing wrong.....why am I so hungary?  Why can't I do this?  What do I tell the Dr?  How do I know if I will get a fill on my first viist?  Help....

Hi nicole, I was banded on Nov. 7 and everything that your experiencing is normal. I'm going through the same thing right now. I see my Dr on Jan 6. and he has to give me a fill. I'm almost 2 months post op. I thought you get  a fill after 6 weeks. If that's not enough my scale says I gain 6lbs, i'm so mad because if he would have fill me two weeks ago i probably wouldnt have gain. The band does not stop hunger, it's all mental. I told my husband i wasn't this hungry before i got the surgery, now every hour i'm hungry, so your not alone. Hang in there and be encouraged. God Bless.

Nicole,  This is what's called "Bandster Hell".  You don't have restriction yet.  You may not get it for awhile.  I had my band placed in April and still have not hit my sweet spot.  I do have some restriction (7.5/9cc), if I take too big a bite or do not chew enough it hurts (feels like a stone in my chest, but it passes pretty fast)  I haven't gotten stuck enough to throw up yet, haven't slimed yet either.  My restriction still does not stop me from eating at 1/2 cup, I don't feel full.  I also don't exercise very much.  It's hard for me to do that.   But I have lost 30 lbs.  So, I keep trying.

Good Luck, restriction will come.  Oh, by the way, tell your doctor exactly how you feel and what you have been going through.  They can help you.

Hugs,   Peggy
