For all the military affiliated losers...
Hello to all!
I am rather new to the OH boards but I have been contemplating WLS for some time now. I am still in the very early stages but I am leaning very heavily towards banding. I am an Army wife and have a question for any of you out there that have been banded...
As you know "home" is where your PCS orders take you. I was wondering how you all feel about going through the whole process of being banded by a doctor, getting settled in to a routine, then PCSing... How are you dealing with finding a new doctor, getting fills, and resolving any surgery related issues in a new place where no one is familiar with your background?
I feel banding is the best choice for me but I am still a little apprehensive just thinking about what's going to happen when it time to move on from here.
Thanks in advance to anyone who cares to share their thoughts on the subject.

We have just located from Florida my husband is retired Navy. I meet people all the time that are PCSing alot and they don't seem to have a problem. TRICARE has a requirement that we use a center of excellent so you won't go wrong because TRicare won't let you. I am very pleased so far with the care that I have received. I had my surgery on DEC 2nd and I am happy I did it now but for me the first 4 days were hell because of the pain and I couldn't get the right amount of pain medication or kind I kept breaking out.

Hey Tanya, my husband is active duty Airforce and i was just banded on the 11th. We actually already have orders to Lakenheath England and will be leaving in March. I actually talked with my Dr. before making the decision to be banded before moving and he told me i should have no problem finding a Dr. for my fills no matter where i end up. Lap band is getting to be pretty popular these days so i wouldn't worry about finding a Dr. and Tricare has been really good to work with as well. Good Luck on your journey!
