Sandy,

I hope you are less anxious today.  Please know that I will be praying for you and that God will surround you in that operating room and will help the Drs to do their best.  Also, that your recovery will not be as bad as you anticipate.  The main thing at the hospital is to walk walk walk.

I know you will be fine.

Blessings,

Jeane

i too am scared, tomorrow is my big day.  this is my third surgery, i have had minor sinus stuff done in the past.  i dont know why but i too am scared to death also.  mom was banded on 10/27 and has done great, no problems, and she is the worst when it comes to surgery.  i guess its just jitters.

Sandra, it's totally normal to be scared! I was too!! But it's such an easy procedure (mine took an hour and 15 minutes)!! you probably won't be able to drink anything immediately after surgery. For me, as soon as I woke up, they wheeled me into x-ray. They took all kinds of pictures under fluoro to make sure the band was placed correctly. I couldn't drink anything until the x-rays came back and everything looked good. Then I was able to drink a little. I had to sip water out of a tiny plastic cup, no big swallows.

As for eating, I'm 2 months post op today, and I can eat anything I want. I haven't been stuck, no vomit, no PB-ing, nothing. I don't even feel the band anymore. I've had 1 fill so far, and still doing fine!!

Just relax and remember why you're doing this. You're going to do great!!!!

9cc Realize Band: 1st Fill 10/27 3cc,  2nd fill 1/22 2cc, 3rd fill 3/5 1.5 cc

Hi Sandra,
I think you have done the hardest work getting to a surgery date.  For me the surgery was 45 minutes (so I'm told), felt kinda loopy in recovery and the pain meds kept me comfortable till I was discharged from the hospital.  I'm 11 days post opt and next wednesday I go to stage 3 foods.  The wow moments will get you thru this.  Feeling yourself with less weight is a feeling I have not had in lots of years.
The band is truly a tool that gives you back feeling that you haven't had in a long time.
Good Luck,
Robert
