How do I "unstick" something. I've read a lot of posts about how to avoid getting food stuck but what actually happens when something does get stuck and how do you unstick it?

First advice: DON'T DRINK ANYTHING !! It's like running the faucet when the drain is clogged. There only 1 place that liquid can go - backwards and outwards :) !!

For me, I've found standing up and walking sometimes helps move things down.
Good Luck on your Journey !!

OK SO THIS IS WHAT THE RN IN MY SURGEONS OFFICE SAID IF YOU GET A PIECE OF TOUGH MEAT STUCK.....GET REASY FOR THIS ONE...BUT IT WORKS!
YOU TAKE  1/4 CUP WATER AND ADD SOME MEAT TENDERIZER TO IT AND DRINK IT IN SIPS...IT WILL GO DOWN AND WILL TENDERIZE THE MEAT.....I THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT IS DISGUSTING...BUT IT DOES WORK!

I am not banded yet, but I have read on the lap band board that walking aroung flapping your arms up and down works too. Sounds kinda funny, but if it gets ya un-stuck, who cares???

Alot of people on the Lap Band forum swear by Papaya Enzyme tablets. They have a chewable wafer that helps break down the stuck food. It works in the same way as a meat tenderizer. I've never tried it. I don't have any restriction yet, so nothing gets stuck. But check with your surgeon and see if they would recommend the Papaya tablets. Then you can carry them with you for those "just in case" moments!

I love and swear by the papaya enzymes!  I had food stuck just after my first fill and I did not know what to do.  I used the papaya and it was gone in a matter of minutes.  Peanut butter is the worst trying to get down.  I can not even touch it.  I also cannot eat chicken any more.  I love ground turkey and pork chops.  But the papaya enzymes really work and are only $2.99 at walgreens.
