How is your Realize band working for you?

Hey everyone!

I just recently had the Realize Band implanted and so far I have no complaints!  How has the band treated all of you?  Any foods it just won't allow you to have?  How have fills gone?

I also have absolutely no complaints.  I don't even know it is there most of the time!  I get a little hungry between meals (watch my sugar level) but drink drink drink and exercise and when i get my little meal together and eat it, I am satisfied.

Tonight I had homemade chili (husband didn't recognize it, it had been so long since he'd had anything other than Wendy's chili!). I had 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup diced pears, and 2 wheat thins.  I am satisfied, not too full and very thankful!

Have yet to have a fill, see the Dr. on Oct. 13th, but don't know if he will fill it then or not.

I think it is great.

That is great!  The one thing that I am sooooo happy about with my band is that I don't have to diet EVER again!!  It makes me so happy to know that.  I just started soft foods today and it has been so great.  I can't believe the little amount of food that makes me feel full (not stuffed, just comfortable).  I too can't feel my band, I thought before the surgery that I would be able to since it is something new in my body.  But, I feel nothing.

How has your port healed?  Mine is still pretty tender, I think it takes longer for the Realize patients ports to heal since it is clamped and stitched as opposed to just stitched for the Lap Band patients.  It feels kind of weird if I try and bend over to pick something up or if I try to twist my upper body.  I wonder how long it takes for it to stop feeling this way...

Nicole - so funny you mention about bending with your port site b/c I feel like that too.  Its been 2.5 weeks since my surgery and that's the only weirdness I ever experience.  Nice to know I'm not crazy!!!

Good to know I am not either!   Ha-ha!

Yeah, it is just so weird.  I bet you it isn't this bad for the Lap Band folks since they only have their port stitched.  It just feels like it digs into my rib bone sometimes...

Hi I am so new to this forum because i just had my realize band inplanted on Friday, Oct. 3rd!   I have not felt the band at all but did see it when i had the oh so yummy gastro xrays to check for leaks b4 i left the hospital!    My first fill will be on November 3rd.  i get the staples removed on the 16th of Oct.  I have followed the diet to the tee so haven't had any complications... i still have throbbing pains in my left side (inside) and just put a heat pack on it.  i think it may be something to do with not being able to move the bowels in a few days!  i will have to get a lax. i think?

anyway - so far so good!

Congrats!  I had mine 10/2 and have popped a Colase everyday.  I have had more than enough bowl movements now, so I would say to try the Colase.  It is a stool softener, not a laxative though.

I like the Realize band. I had my surgery Aug 26. I was going to get a fill yesterday but we decided not to just yet as I am NOT hungry between meals and a cup of food keeps me happy. I haven't lost alot of weight but have def lost inches and sizes. I have lost 2 clothing sizes since surgery so I am a happy camper. Click my pic and you can see my last moth pic versus this months. Its important to track your progress this way. Why? Because even if we are not losing alot of weight the inches can still be falling off. Yesterday while waiting to see the surgeon I met a lady my height and only 4 lbs lighter then me but she only wore a size 10. She was shocked that I was only 4 lbs lighter then her as my clothing size is a size 16. I told her her weight was from her muscles. She had lots of muscle and I thought she looked great. She lifts weights.
I also work out alot 2 hours per day. I hope to have such great results like she has had.

That is good!  Congrats on the weight loss!    How many fills did it take you?  I hope it only takes me 1 or 2, that would be nice!!
