Hello all, it will be 2 weeks tomorrow since my realize band. I lost 8 lbs the first week, but have not lost anything this week. I also have no restriction. I have tested foods like grilled chicken (dry), burgers and wheat bread with no problems eating any of them. My surgeon has rescheduled my post op appt from 10/10 to 10/31. I feel like I am being cheated because I should have gotten a fill before then. Could you tell me when you had a first fill? Thanks

Do not fret and be patient...6 weeks after surgery is generally the time frame for the first fill...then of course if that isn't enough then schedule after 6 weeks or so for the second...this takes time...and it is very hard to wait for results...I am in the "testing" my limits phase when I should be "listening to my band" and using it to help me lose weight.  You need to listen to your band, measure all your food and eat very slowly...I like to glup and eat fast and I find it had to break this habit ... by nature I want everything and I want it immediately...but it's not to be so patience is not a vurtue I have naturally.... if you aren't getting quick help on tis board, jump over to the lap band board because they have more traffic....good luck and stay positive....

GIve it time.  I am in the same boat, I dont feel any real restriction and could probably eat the same way I did before surgery, BUT, for now I am trying to assume that the band is doing what it should be doing, so I have to also.

Measure your food, eat slow, dont try to force the step to the next food, you have the rest of your life to enjoy those, take a couple of weeks and follow your diet plan.  Think of how much better you will feel about it after your fill and really how much better you will feel about yourself next summer in the two piece bathing suit. :-)

I had mine on 8/28. I have eaten a lot of things that were not on my "approved list" because I felt like I was doing fine. I haven't eaten any bread, salad, raw veggies, or hard meat yet (steak, pork chops, etc.). I get my first fill on October 6, and honestly I don't know if I need it. I can't eat more than about 1/2-3/4c (max) without feeling way too full. I have been trying to keep it to about 1/3 of a cup. It gives me satiety.  I would love to eat more, but that's just head hunger, and I know it. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks, may I ask how much you have lost since your surgery? I am just being inpatient.

I got my Realize band one week ago today. Last week I was told to continue on with my liquid diet (I had been on one for 2 weeks prior to my surgery). Today was my first day of mushy (pureed) foods for the next three weeks. I won't even be trying grilled chicken, or burgers, or wheat bread until then.

Did your surgeon say it was OK to be eating regular foods even though it has only been two weeks? I was under the impression that this was not a good idea because a person's stomach has to have a chance to heal.

I have also heard that the first six weeks it is important to adjust to the band and not to worry about how much weight you are or aren't losing.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been eating taco soup, protein shakes, yogurt, eggs, I guess I am being inpatient. Thanks again for the support  from all.

I still have 2 days until the procedure.  My diet sheets say 3-4 days liquid diet and then pureed food for about 4 weeks, then try the real food very slowlly, well chewed and cut small.

All this makes me a little apprehensive, but all I can do is the best I can do.

Hope you are feeling better.
