Got banded a week ago and am hungry!!!
I got the realize band a week ago 09/12 and the last few days, I've been starving! I've drank a couple of protein shakes, popcicles, soups and broths.....I feel like eating a steak right now. Has anyone else gone through this before. I don't know what to do but I'm hungry! The liquids aren't filling me up.
I got my realize band on 9/11.
On Mon, Tues this week I was starving!!!!!! Like first trimester pregnancy hunger, the kind that if I don't eat I will die. So I know how you feel.
I called the Dr. office and they told me to make sure I'm getting at least 60 grams of protien. It was hard the first two days but once I started getting that in, I was a lot better. I'm still a little hungry, but feel 100 times better.
I hope that helps,
Barb
Hey wow! I get to be the voice of experience. I got banded on 8/26 and that first week or so was a bit rough on the hungries. Make sure you get in your protein, that will make you feel SO much better, and remember to drink your water. A large part of my hunger was not real hunger but part habit and part being extremely thirsty. You have to remember that until just a little while ago your system was used to you eating a lot more and it constantly had something to do, now, even though you arent really in need of food, your stomach can still send you 'hunger pains' letting you know that its still there and ready to process whatever you want to send down.
Thirst will sometimes show up as hunger as well, especially for me it did. When I was thirsty, I was so used to grabbing something to eat as well as something to drink that my body was all confused as to what it really wanted.
It WILL get better, that first week or so sucks, but after that it seems to even out. Right now I keep a bottle of water or juice handy for those little sneak hunger attacks that my body likes to throw. Stick to your diet plan, follow your doctors guidelines. You might get a little hungry between, but you will be so happy with the results.
I will brag a little bit, on the day of my surgery I was 333, today 3 weeks and 3 days later I am down to 306, nearly 30 POUNDS lost in those 3 weeks.
