7/18:Successful Realize Band Surgery!
I had my realize band placed at 8am yesterday morning. Everything went smoothely and I was walking around by 11:00am.
The best part is that besides the expectred abdominal soreness, I can barely tell the band is there!
Everything went better than I expected. :)
Anyone else get banded just recently that has had the same experience?

Great Job!!!! Welcome to the loser's bench!
I felt just as you do...I just had some gas in my shoulder and that was about it....I actually had a play practice the day after i got home and the actuall play the next day. everyone was amazed...
still to this day i think...is there anything in there?...then i eat and ...yup...it's in there!
The soreness around your port area may get worse before it gets better though...I know mine did and a few other ppl on OH did also. I think it's becuse of how the realize port is attached compared to the lapband. We have clamps attached to us they have stiches.
It will go away in a week or 2 though...you may find it easier to sleep in a recliner than in a bed for the next week or 2.
Take care
Stephanie

I haven't really had any issues with gas so I've not experienced the shoulder pain and sleeping in a bed hasn't been a problem for me. I'm going to attribute that to the liquid valium my doctor perscribed.
Today I feel like I wa*****hed in the stomach a few times, but it's manageable pain.
I'm drinking coffee with a splash of cream and sugar this morning! Woohoo!
Thanks for your good wishes.

I got my Realize bank on 5/27/08. Had some gas pains and soreness of my incision area. It went away in a few days. I found it hard to get up and down on the bed at first, but then I realized to hold the incision area as I got up and down, boy did that do wonders.
I have always wanted a tummy tuck but after realizing how much you need you tummy area to do a lot of things, I do not think I will get one of those. However time could change my mind.
I am glad you are on the losers bench and everything went good for you.

>> water erupting out of my mouth like a water fountain <<
This just happened to me, after reading what you wrote - I spewed coffee all over the place !! Thanks for the morning laugh !!
No, you will not be erupting out of your mouth - as long as you follow the rules ... Take "sips" of water (small amounts). Wait a few minutes before having another sip. Don't use a straw (ok, this point is debatable by many on the boards. Some Doctors - like mine - believe straws cause more gas in you system, others have no problem with their patients using straws - ask your Doctor). When you're allow to eat solid foods make sure you "chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew-chew" your food before swallowing. I can't stress enough to CHEW. Only once did I have a "stuck" feeling, and it's the worst feeling in the world. Once you have it, you're never gonna want to experience it again. So chew your food until it feels like baby food in your mouth before swallowing.
