Topic: RE: did anyone get pregnant after a tummy tuck?

so say you get your tummy the way you want it - flat and tight.  A pregnancy WILL cause your belly to grow and change - it could result in stretch marks - it could result in stretched out loose skin in the end.

I don't think a doctor could guarantee you that a pregnancy wouldn't leave you dis-satisfied with your appearance again.

If your excess skin really bothers you NOW and you aren't planning a pregnancy until later - proceed with your plastics - but know that there is no guarantee that you will love how your belly looks after a pregnancy.

I always planned on completing my family before investing in plastics - but I am not that bothered by my appearance either.

Check out the plastics board...there has to be some people who were pregnant after plastics.

Good luck with your decision!

Topic: did anyone get pregnant after a tummy tuck?

i'm in this ****ty place right now where i've worked my ass off to get to the point where i can have the panniculectomy but my doc suggests a full tummy tuck bc my upper stomach is so stretched out. hey i would love to get the whole thing done. he says that getting pregnant won't ruin the work but every other doctor i've heard from online says yes it will. so now i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. bc i've spend all year working on myself and improving myself inside and out and my husband and i decided we weren't gonna try for kids till the end of NEXT year. so next year was supposed to be my year to really live life and enjoy my new body before starting this whole motherhood thing again. the thought of suffering with this pannus for another year is unacceptable. but i don't want to have to have 2 surgeries. and also i know if i just get the bottom done it will be a let down bc the top still sticks out. :/ i guess i was just wondering if anyone has been through this and what their outcome was.

I'm in the same situation as you. I had RNY 10 months ago and am 15wk6d. Ive lost 17lbs since I found out due to not being able to eat or keep anything down.  It's such a miserable feeling.

I am 37 weeks pregnant and gained 28 pounds.  I had RNY almost 3 years ago and lost 207 pounds by the time I got pregnant. I had been maintaining weight loss for about 8 months prior to getting pregnant.  I didn't really gain anything till 2nd trimester then leveled off again and in last 2 weeks put on 5 pounds.  Not a good number to see but doctor is pleased with what he calls normal weight gain.

Thanks for responding and congrats!!! I've had two good day where I was hungry and I ended up putting on 3 lbs but then it went bad again and I just keep throwing up. I'm lucky to get 40oz of fluid and a bite or two of food. I feel hungry all the time but my actual stomach hurts and I think it's just from throwing up. I'm pretty sure it's not morning sickness because I've been like this since surgery but my surgeon says I'm ok. I haven't done lab work yet but plan on it this week. I have a weird baby bump with a saggy gut lol but I'm so worried the baby isn't going to grow right.

Topic: RE: How much did you gain?

I had my VSG in March and I am 11w5d pregnant now.  I have lost 114 total, 17 while pregnant.  I am still obese (BMI 36 now) and my surgeon's guideline is that it is Ok for me to gain 10-15 over where I was when I got pregnant.

I got pregnant at 247, so if I gained up to 262 that would be OK...and really if I did more - then so be it, but it is just that much more work to do to get it off later.

My surgeon gave me a packet of info to share with my OB regarding nutrition and weight gain and vitamin blood work guidelines.

their advice was to up my protein goal to 75g a day, eat 3 meals plus 2-3 protein snacks (like string cheese, meat, greek yogurt, cottage cheese), and to not deprive myself if I am hungry.  Make good choices, but it is OK to eat if I am hungry.

My daily calories have been hitting 1200-1500 these days since I started taking Zofran for nausea.  I am still losing 1-2 pounds a week and my docs are OK with it b/c my vitamin bloodwork all came back normal so far.

I did have one early on yet it was the same....right now they have pushed me back a week. The MF is saying there is too much fluid & t jg eyes think t jg r baby is going  to grow too fast plus they are monitoring for gestational diabetes I test 4x a day & once in a while get a spike.

You should be using the due date established by that very first early ultrasound...not the 20w one.

high fluid can be a sign of gestational diabetes...but it can be random too.

I had high fluid with #2 and I did not have GD.

either way...good job getting in with the specialists...they will monitor baby and help you make the best choices for a safe and healthy arrival.

Good luck!
