Topic: Did anybody have trouble getting pregnant post-op?

I'm just a few weeks from my 1 year surgiversary, and my dr has given me his blessing to get pregnant.  Before WLS, we went through several months of treatment and tests and didn't get pregnant.  I've had PCOS since I was a teen, but I've been ovulating regularly since I turned 30.  My cycles have gone from 35 days to 28 since losing weight, but my luteal phase has gone from 15 days down to 10.  We never really found a clear reason why we couldn't get pregnant.

I've been charting the last 5 months, and actually trying the last 3 and nothing yet :(  We have an appointment scheduled with an RE in a month, but obviously I'm hoping that's not needed.

When i search on these forums, I see all kinds of post about infertile women pre-op getting their surprise baby post-op, but I haven't seen anything yet about women who still needed help to get pregnant post-op.

Anybody have experience with this??  Thanks :)

Thank you! I just started folic acid last week. Only 400 so maybe I will bump that up. I will ask my doc at my apt next week and request blood work.

Good For you!

Since you are planning this adventure - you have time to make sure you are in tip-top shape for a pregnancy.

Take your vitamins - add in 1200mg of FOLIC ACID - that is super important to have on-board when you get pregnant b/c the early stages of baby development rely on folic acid for neural tube health.

You should be getting periodic vitamin level bloodwork too - make sure you do that before pregnancy to be sure you aren't deficient in anything.

If your WLS and OB docs are supportive of your timeline - go for it!  Good Luck!

I don't know why they chose that way, but they really tightened my skin, otherwise at least where I had it done had a scar running around my whole body.

It was just a bit uncomfortable at times... a few spots were worse then others because of the healing issue I had when I had the penniculectomy.

Yes the Fleur de Lis. But why if it's just the panniculectomy? If I was gonna get that I would do the whole thing.

Was as it a bad pregnancy? Or just uncomfortable?

Maybe the better way to describe it is an upside down T.... the vertical scar stops about just under the nipple line.  At least where I had my surgery done there were two ways they could do it... an upside down T or around the entire body (as the dr said- so they open you like a can).. I chose like a T because was told it would heal better, etc.

I'm confused. You didn't have a full tummy tuck but your scar is under you nipples?

Hi,

I had a panniculectomy a few years ago.... currently have an almost 5 week old... now I didn't have a full tummy tuck but I can share my experience with having had a panniculectomy.  My scar runs from just under my nipples down to pelvic region and across some (I chose this type vs the full scar that would have gone around my whole body-- was told better healing, etc.)....

During pregnancy my scar really bothered me had to keep it very moist with creams.  My belly-button (which has been repositioned) often felt like it was on fire (about 6 months and beyond).

All of that seems to have gone back to its places now.

Topic: RE: Breastfeeding??

I'm currently breastfeeding my 5 week old and know I don't make enough. I go to a lactation group and when I do a weighed feeding she is only getting about an ounce. They said I may not be taking in enough calories.
