Hello,
I'm 28 weeks and going on 3 years post VGS and just the last couple of days I've noticed I'm having a hard time eating or even consuming liquid. Lots of feelings of restriction and fullness. I continue to take my Nexium once daily, however I have had an increase in indigestion and burping type feelings with just smalls sips. I'm getting fuller than normal, it reminds me of those first few days post op from VGS. Anyone else have a high carrying baby that maybe pushing on your already small tummy and how did you deal with it??
I'm so sorry about losing your mom.
I got pregnant at 5m post sleeve. I am 28w along now.
So far everything is going well.
Ask your doctor for Zofran for the morning sickness. I took that all the way into the 20+ weeks for my all-day nausea.
I have been able to up my protein to 70+g a day and I also upped my calories to about 1500 a day. I lost 100, got pregnant, lost 20 more in 1st trimester, have gained back about 10 of that so far. I am on track to deliver near the weight I was when I got pregnant.
My docs did a full vitamin panel on me in 1st tri to make sure I had everything in needed.
Take EXTRA folic acid! Prenatals don't have enough on their own.
Also - you can do the NT scan and AFP screenings at 12w and 16w to make sure baby is healthy. Low folic acid stores can cause spinal column issues...I did these 2 tests for piece of mind and to have more information. My baby is just fine.
At my anatomy scan at 19w, the baby was right on track.
I will have a growth ultrasound in the 30s to make sure everything is still growing well in there.
Good Luck! Pregnancy after sleeve may stall your weight loss but thankfully it is easier for us to maintain nutrition levels b/c we don't have the malabsorption issues.

I am 5 months post sleeve, my mom just passed away in the beginning of January and I just found out I am pregnant. This being said this is my 8th pregnancy will be my 4th child. I also have PCOS. We go to doctor on Monday however already had my blood drawn and all is good just need to add some vitamin D with my prenatal. Having a hard time eating because I seem to have for the first time morning sickness that causes me to vomit. Any advice or words of wisdom to help keep food down. I know I need to up my protein and I can't tolerate protein powders, I am going to try the GNC shakes again and pray I can tolerate them.
Congrats! Thank you for the information. I talked with the Dietician and she mentioned that after my first trimester to up my cals by 200-300. I might have to drink another protein shake per day to get me there. I don't want to over do the amount of food I intake. I have lost 5 lbs during my first trimester (I'll be 12 weeks on Thursday) She said with my BMI (29) I need to only gain 15-25lbs. I've lost 165lbs since surgery. So i'm hoping to not gain very much. I have added an extra folic acid vitamin as well. So far so good.
almost 11m post op VSG, 27w pregnant
I eat about 1500 calories a day now. I lost 20 pounds in first trimester while only taking un under 1000/day, upped the protein and carbs to get to 1500ish and have regained 8 pounds of what I dropped in 1st tri.
goal is to deliver at/near where I started the pregnancy.
A typical pregnant is encouraged to do 2000-2500/day.
I am on the border of obese/overweight now so my doc is fine with me not really gaining/losing anything with this pregnancy.
You should have your vitamin levels drawn to make sure you are not deficient in anything. THAT is more important than calories as far as my medical team is concerned.

bloating is VERY common in first trimester.
your GI tract slows down so you may be retaining gas and poop. You also retain water.
Your uterus is probably getting up towards the top of the pubic bone now too which will start pushing your other organs out of the way a bit.
basically - this is all totally normal.
Congrats on the baby!
