Topic: Did you Know? OH Has A Post Op Planner....

A great tool to help you with your Weight Loss Surgery goals is our Post Op Planner.

Below is an example of the suggested planner numbers.

Your BMI and Goal Weight

Your weight is 138 pounds; your ideal weight is 134 pounds. Thus, your “excess” weight is about 4 pounds. Bariatric surgery might help you lose 0% of this excess weight, meaning you might lose 0 pounds.

If you lost 0 pounds, then you would end up weighing 138 pounds. 138 pounds would thus be your “goal weight” for bariatric surgery.

Typically bariatric surgery patients lose this amount over the course of 12 to 15 months, with slight fluctuations and possibly slight regain after that. Below is a graph of how your weight might change after surgery.

Your current BMI is 23.7.  Click here to find out what that means.

Warning: The figures below represent just one possible typical outcome. Your loss could vary greatly.

Topic: Pregnant 15 Months post op! Is it too late? STRESSED!!

Hello everyone!

My name is LaToria! It's been too long since I've touched in and I'd like some advice/support. I will first like to give a little background information about me. I am 27, married with two sons. This is my sixth pregnancy. My lasted loss was at 7 months POST OP and I carried her to twelve weeks. I was told I had a partial molar pregnancy which was NOT related to anything from my GB surgery. I WILL SADLY AND WITH GREAT SHAME, ADMIT I DID NOT FOLLOW DOCTOR'S RECOMMENDATIONS ABOUT VITAMINS. Needless to say, I'm very traumatized and will ALWAYS second guess if maybe not taking my vitamins had something to do with the loss of our first daughter. Once DH and I got serious about trying to conceive again, I did speak with my PCP doctor who put me on prenatal vitamins MONTHS in advance. However, upon my first follow up with my GB Surgeon, I was told those vitamins were a complete waste because my body just couldn't absorb them! I'm now EIGHT WEEKS pregnant and worried sick about my poor peanut not having the nutrition it needs to survive and be healthy.

I know this is A LOT of reading but please someone tel me if they've gone through this or have similar experience(s). I really need love, support, and advice!

Topic: RE: 6 months post op and pregnant (last year)

I also have PCOS, I was diagnosed at 16 and have a very severe case. I not only never had more than 2 periods a year my entire life, but often go through phases where I gain steadily 1 pound a day for a year strait WHILE dieting. Currently I am gaining at a rate of .75 a pound a day for the last 5 months. I eat protein first, stay away from slider foods, walk no less than 5 miles a day, 7 days a week, make my carbs count with only eating carbs of good nutritional value. So I think what you are saying has merit, there has to be something hormonal going on, because I am rapidly gaining just like I would pre op. My hormones would fluctuate so much since I was 16 that I was 300 lbs every 2 or 3 years and 200 every other 2 or 3 years. I have tried going back to the basics, I am actually on a liquid only diet now, the 5DPT. But the scale keeps climbing! I can predict very very accurately what it will say, I weigh myself every 2 days and every 2 days it is exactly 1.5-2 lbs more. I have been freaking out that the surgery was all for nothing, that I will be over 300 lb again by the end of the year. You have given me a little hope that 6 months from now when my baby is a year that my hormones may balance out and the curse of unjustified rapid weight gain will stop!

I know you posted this a while ago, but I thought I would give a little light.
Your baby is only 6 months old. Doctors tell women to wait at least 2 years to have another baby because it takes almost that to get your body and hormones all back to normal.
I have had 2 post-op babies and did so many things after both and could not lose anything till after they were at least a year old, and I have PCOS. It may be harder for me as well because I am now 6 years out of surgery, but stress can be a huge factor in not being able to lose as well.

Topic: Pregnant LapBanders!

So, learned I was pregnant recently and called my doctor.  I was hoping that the rule about having to have your band unfilled while pregnant had changed since I had my surgery, but it hasn't.  So, I went in and they took all the fluid out.  This is a hard thing for me as I would imagine it is for other folks in my situation.  To not have restriction after 4 years is soo strange.  I am now feeling hungry more often and I am trying to figure out what is normal.  Am I feeling hungry because I am pregnant and need to eat more or am I hungry because my band is loose and its not holding food like it used to?

Topic: RE: Third Trimester Eating difficulties

I've had trouble the whole pregnancy with gaining weight and being able to eat. I'm carrying high as well, and sometimes I can only eat a few bites, wait 30-45 mins and try to eat again. It's tiresome, but its what I have to do.

Hello,

I'm 28 weeks and going on 3 years post VGS and just the last couple of days I've noticed I'm having a hard time eating or even consuming liquid. Lots of feelings of restriction and fullness. I continue to take my Nexium once daily, however I have had an increase in indigestion and burping type feelings with just smalls sips. I'm getting fuller than normal, it reminds me of those first few days post op from VGS. Anyone else have a high carrying baby that maybe pushing on your already small tummy and how did you deal with it??
