I'm nearly 11 months post-op. I suffered with PCOS before weight loss but have had almost a year of pretty normal periods now. My fiancé and I haven't necessarily been trying to get pregnant but we haven't been vigilant about preventing it. We were thinking it would be best to wait until after our May wedding to really try. I'm 40 so I didn't want to really work at preventing it either in the interest of time. Anyway, my period is now 6 days late. It was due to start Thursday. I haven't had any hint of spotting. I have had tender breasts but that's not totally abnormal for me. My fiancé swears I have complained about nausea more and that my areolas are "a lot more red" than usual. I took a home pregnancy test Sunday morning and yesterday evening and both were negative. I've read that some women are weeks late with their period before they test positive but that seems odd to me. I'm not sure what to think and it's driving me insane. Any thoughts from those who've gone through pregnancy after surgery and/or over 40?

Thursday when I rechecked levels it was 867 I go back tomorrow to recheck hoping everything is Ok :)
It's normal and should double by your next blood test. Good luck.

First trimester sucks! I would definitely concentrate on taking all your vitamins and a prenatal and remember to snack often. I found going too long without eating would cause me to have a hypoglycemic type episode. You should feel better once the second trimester arrives. Congrats!

I'm not great at taking my vitamins even though my levels have always come back fine, I know it's more important than ever now though.
I'm really nauseous, freezing cold, so tired and have been getting really bad headaches. I work full time and am having the hardest time making it through the day. I feel like I could sleep for days.
Any advice would be great.
I'm very unsure what my due date is due to irregular periods but I did bloodwork today and my levels are 459 by calculations I'm about 4-5 weeks pregnant is that a normal level I go back for more bloodwork Thursday? ? Also my legs and arms have been going numb alot too :(
Hello ladies!
Quick question. How did your surgeons respond to your news of being pregnant so soon after surgery? No judgment here, strictly curious. I am almost 5 months post op and dying to get on the baby bandwagon but I worry about my surgeons reaction to the news among other things.
IT is NOT a good idea to get pregnant so soon after WLS. The biggest thing is that you may have nutrition issues with the pregnancy which is fair to you or baby...Plus...you just had major surgery to lose weight and now you are pregnant which puts that on the backburner.
That being said, I had lost 100 pounds from surgery to pregnancy, so when I went to my bariatric center for my 6m post op - I had a great weigh in AND told them I was pregnant. THey took it OK...no shaming. They shifted the appointment to talk about nutrition and health vs. weightloss goals.
They gave me a packet to give my OB about what to look for and that was that. It helps that my OB is also a sleever, so while she understood that the timing was not great - she also knows my abilities and limitations in regards to food and nutrition.

the biggest thing is to add in more Folic acid. You need good folic acid reserves at the very beginning of pregnancy to help your odds with baby having spina bifida.
I took my regular multi PLUS more Folic and more iron - until my nausea got too bad. Then I switched to a gummy prenatal, separate iron, and extra folic.

My doctor recommended (as I'm TTC) that I switch out my regular multivite for prenatals (I take a 4x dose of multivites daily)
