I'm 23 months post-op RNY. I lost a total of 135lbs, going from 275 to 140 in a year where I pretty much stabilized. I've fluctuated between 140 and 145 for almost a year. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and am struggling with the weight gain of almost 17lbs, which is about 10lbs more than the "healthy gain."
I don't have any children and at 4 months, I have a quite prominent belly. People notice, ask if I'm pregnant and/or try to touch. I still had a large amount of fat on my stomach that I was already struggling with as well as a lot of excess skin. I feel like I've just let myself go.
Has anyone else felt this way?
I got pregnant 6 months after RNY (I've since had 2 babies post RNY and am working on my 3rd...I have 5 kids currently). I continued on with my regular vitamin and then just added in some additional Rx Iron (my iron has always been low...even pre RNY) and then doubled up my Greens (http://miraclewrapswithrhietta.myitworks.com/shop/product/303/).
Otherwise...I didn't change anything...gained 17lbs and pretty much lost it giving birth.
Vitamins are very important for pregnant women and her baby. Doctors advised to take vitamins pills and also fruits which includes vitamins. Visit for babyography silver cross.
After RNY, we were advised to not get pregnant until at least 18 months out and/or weight stabilized
RNY 1/2004
1st baby, delivered vaginally 10/2006
2nd baby, delivered vaginally 12/2007
I gained 17 lbs with 1st, 18 lbs with second (and she was exactly 1 lb bigger) and both times lost all weight within 1-2 weeks

My son was born 3/15/15 vaginally. C-section was never even brought up by my OB or my surgeon. I gained 16lbs during the pregnancy, 8 days pp I am down the 16 plus 5 more :)
happy pregnancy!
Thanks Paula622 that is so great to hear that have no regrets this far out. I've always struggled with my weight. And a big part of my struggles were do to trying to have a child (hormones, doc appts., procedures...). So after trying 10+ years I have my baby!! So now all I want is to be a healthy and entergetic wife and mom and grow old with my family. Congrats to you for your success and maintantence!!
My oldest was about that age when I had my surgery. I had help for a few days and then managed on my own after that. She was still in a crib so I did have to lift her in and out a few times a day, but tried to limit other unnecessary lifting/carrying. I was sore for a few weeks, but managed our every day activities all right. Congrats on your upcoming surgery! Best decision I've ever made! I had my sleeve done almost 5 years ago and have never had a minute of regret. Tomorrow is my third baby's first birthday and I'm wearing a size 2/4 and have so much energy and physical ability to do stuff with the kids. I'm thankful every day that I took the plunge and got healthier!
Your WLS should have no bearing by itself on how you deliver. I bet those stats are missing LOTS of other information. For example, obese women are more likely to have c-sections, were these stats still obese.... I'm sure you'll do great. For what it is worth, my first baby (pre wls) was a c-section and my second and third were both VBACs. I really go against that info!
