Topic: RE: Post op VSG recovery with a 16 month old?

Everyone's different but I felt terrible for about 6 days. My husband took her to the babysitter during the day. I pretty much slept off and on all day. I would plan on having your mom help with baths and such just in case you don't feel well in the evening. Good luck and I hope you have an easy recovery!

How did you make out?

I have my surgery coming up and my LO will have just turned 1. I am putting her in daycare so that she isn't home during the days, and I have my mom who will be picking her up and dropping her off, otherwise it is all on me.  She is just 20 lbs.

Any advice?

Hey Ladies

I got preggo about 3 months post op (3 years out now)

Believe me it will be scary at first. The Doc I worked with said it was fine.

I continued to lose weight while pregnant. I still worked out (aerobics) I still took the same vitamins. My doctor did put me on prenatal vitamins just for the extra push to make sure that the baby was getting them.

I also got regnant less than a year after that this time with twin boys. I stayed the same weight and still worked out and lived a healthy lifestyle.

My doctor did not worry about my weight because I was eating, taking my vitamis and getting in my water and protein and my levels were good.

I wish you both all the best

I've noticed the same thing! I'm not sure why, but it's on my list of things to ask the OB about at my next appointment in a few weeks.

Topic: 6 months post op & pregnant

I just got a positive pregnancy test last night. I am just a week shy of being 6 months post op & have no idea where to begin. Very unexpected & beyond terrified.

I reached out to an obgyn & my surgeon. I have yet to hear back from either one. I've just got so many questions & do not know the answers. Should I be jumping on a prenatal right away? Get off my current vitamins? Take more supplements of something else?

How should I be eating? right now i'm at 500-800 calories a day & a very low carber (20 grams at most). Should i be adding back in carbs? increasing calories?

I do not want to jeopardize my health or this pregnancy anymore than I'm sure I already have. :(

Thanks.

I understand exactly what you are going through. I had my surgery 01/11/2010. I lost 108lbs. I had PCOS and thought I couldn't get pregnant as well. Well, I did about one year after the surgery. My baby was premature weighing only 2.8lbs and in the NICU over two months. I did gain about 30lbs back but thought I was back on track. About one year later I was pregnant with my second child. He was born at 35 weeks due to preeclampsia. My weight claimed up to 240. I did go down to 227 a week after I gave birth, but a month later I began to steadily gain about 10lbs a month consistently. I am now back up to my surgery weight. I have started trying to get back on track and this week have lost eight pounds cutting all sugar and bread. You should try this as well to see if it works for you. Goodluck, I know I'm going to put my all in to get my body back!!!
