It is possible for IUD's to fall out. That said, the only way for your doctor to FEEL it is by feeling for the strings. The strings can retract, mine did with my first Mirena. The only problem it causes is that you may have to have sedation to have it removed because they will have to use an instrument to reach in and grab it.

Update on my boys!
As some of you who have been around a while might recall, we had a pretty massive health scare with my second, Aran, after he was born. A few days after birth he contracted viral meningitis and had to be in the NICU. Once the meningitis started clearing, the virus entered his heart muscle, causing his immune system to attack it, and he developed myocarditis. He was finally able to go home after 3 weeks in the NICU.
He is now 8 months old!
So far all of his cardiac checkups have been PERFECT. He remains on a heart medication which they will start weaning when he is about 1, but so far he has had no abnormal rhythms and no evidence of damage. He is kind of a little miracle. In more ways than one! At his 4 month check-up I mentioned to his pediatrician that I felt that his back was not symmetrical - one side felt "higher" than the other. We got x-rays and it turned out he had infantile ideopathic scoliosis. Apparently quite uncommon. He had a 37 degree curvature and they told us that, if it got worse, he would have to be casted. They said it could stay the same, get worse, or MAYBE get better and that there really is not anything we can do, PT won't help, chripractic won't help. We just have to wait and see. Three months later, and here is my favorite picture of my baby:
On the right, November, 37 degrees. On the left, February, 13 degrees!
Now on to the CUTE ones!
Aran at 8 months, having a blast at the rodeo!
Who needs a sandbox when you can have a corn box?
Riding with big brother!
Big brother Rowan looking way to grown up in his rodeo clothes...which he steadfastly refused to wear at the actual rodeo. Ah, 3 year olds!
31 weeks and counting!
Can't believe I will be seeing this precious lil face in less than 9 weeks....

If Clomid doesn't work, (which it didn't with me and I had PCOS). Have them switch you to Femara... usually when you have PCOS clomid doesn't always work.
We used femara and have two beautiful babies now.
Good Luuc.

Yea, I figure they'll send me for blood work a few times this week, and do an ultrasound around 8 weeks. I'm staying pretty rational considering how unusual this is for me. I've had two SUPER easy pregnancies, so things like "take it easy" are completely foreign concepts to me.
I'm getting ready to do our 2nd IUI in a couple weeks and I'm getting antsy again but excited too!
Good luck!
They typically do blood tests 48-72 hrs apart to see if your hcg levels are doubling as they should be--since bleeding is very common 1st trimester. They usually won't do an ultrasound till your levels confirm you are far enough along where you should see a heartbeat.
Hope everything is ok, I know the wondering is hard.
