Topic: RE: Glucose Tolerance Test

I took mine, without any issues, about 8 weeks ago.  I was also allowed to eat before too, so I made sure it was protein since if I simply have anything sugary and no protein, I crash.   I brought a friend along (done in lab, not doc's office) to make sure I'd be fine to drive home (and some snacks of course in case of a crash).   I discussed all of my concerns with my OB and nurse about the test and the benefits certainly outweighed any possible inconveniences for me.  And the drink tastes like a mix of very flat orange crush and a not well diluted McDonald's orange drink, it's kind of revolting but you're doing it for the kid.  :)

Topic: Thinking about having another child.

I am two years out from surgery and my husband and I are thinking of having another child. Is there any advise that anyone out there can give me about what to expect.

Yes, yes, and yes.  It makes me feel like I am crazy.  What is funny is that even an altered stomach seems to gain more capacity for sure.  I've been looking for someone to relate.  In the past I used to report to my best friend.  Now that she's had her baby, she is sooooo not interested in ovulation issues.

I think my hormones are so damned heightened during this time too and personally I hate it.  I hate it more because I am not even preggo.

All Best,

L

Oh I feel your pain! I am was starved this weekend and all I wanted to eat was carbs! Bread, pasta, chocolate, and anything else bad for me! Those foods only make the hunger worse and I know that but, I get so hungry at ovulation time, I can't stand it! To make me feel so much better about scarfing carbs, my face always breaks out in a lovely rash of acne and if that's not enough, I am hormonal and grouchy! Being a girl is tough!!

Topic: IUI..... and a moment of pure Panic

Went in on Saturday for the IUI. We dropped off my husbands "sample" that is placed in a little white paper bag and handed it over to the doctor and we were the only people in the whole place at the time. The sample had to be washed and processed and then I was to return in one hour for my insemination.  I felt absolutely fine at the moment....until I sat down in the waiting room and began to observe several men coming in with their little white bags and hand them over to the nurse at the front desk.  Panic struck me like a bolt of lightning.....what if the samples get mixed up? OMG how do the keep that from happening and the realization that no matter how well the process is handled, there is always a chance human error will occur and a mix up is possible.......ermagerd I was having nothing short of a mental melt down sitting there in my chair torturing myself with those thoughts! I was ready to back out of the whole thing so I went and spoke with the nurse and asked her to explain the specimen handling process to me and she assured me that there was no chance of mix up and they are extremely detailed and all the samples are color coded and labeled.

I went ahead and did the IUI. It was painless and easy. The doctor was very nice and explained the whole thing to me. But I don't think I could shake the thought of a possible sample mix up......it's possible and that scares me a little bit.

Anyway, just wanted to give you an update! so now on to the two week wait....longest two weeks of your life!

Hang in there!  If she has room hopefully she will move on her own!  And C-sections aren't so bad--I've had 2 and my 3rd is scheduled for this Weds.
