Topic: 7 weeks post partum and sense of satiety has not returned.

Hi all, I'm 7 weeks postpartum and 3 years out from VSG. I gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy on top of the 30 lbs I had left to lose(ie. gained during IVF). In the last 5 weeks, I haven't lost a single pound. I was hoping the sense of satiety/restriction would return but so far, I feel nothing. I'm not breastfeeding so there is no reason I should still be hungry all the time. Has anyone had this happen? What should I do? Should I consider revision? I can't believe I'm in this situation again!!

I usually crave pine so when I am pregnant.  Perhaps you may be pregnant.  I am going through a period where I smell it and just want to smell it always.  Our bodies crave all items and weird items when we are pregnant.

Perhaps you should see if you are pregnant.

Since your level was 0.7 you were not pregnant. A level of 5 or below is considered not pregnant, and 25 and above is considered positive for pregnancy.

It's also not uncommon for OB/Gyns to want you to have a period to insert an IUD (though that is an out of date practice and no longer deemed necessary).

Yes mine out 20 year old daughter was premature and the doctors had me add vegetable oil to her bottles for extra calories she is now a pretty healthy twenty-year-old definitely not overweight I am a little concerned about what her arteries may look like though on

Hey Nikki!! Congrats on baby #2!!! You know what? Thanks for mentioning that. It had not even occurred to me. I've taken metformin before and I didn't have any bad side effects like fertility drugs. And it couldn't hurt to have some extra help with my sugars. And if it's gonna help with ovulation then sign me up!! I was even dreading having to get back on birth control to regulate my period but this is a miuuuuuuuch better  option. Thank you so much! I'm gonna talk to me doctor about it!

Hey Meli! I was on this board with you back in 2012! I had a second baby in 2015 and he is 15 months old now. I needed fertility treatment with my first and my second was a surprise! I got pregnant when I went back on metformin. It really helps give stronger ovulations for us girls with pcos. And it's not a fertility drug. You could look into it. Good luck! We are done having babies. I need to lose all my regain now :/

It's better to get a BF instruction from your doctor. Pump will help you, I guess. Concentrate on you diet.

Having your routine thrown off SUCKS! Especially if you're queasy in the first trimester and eating is weird. I never threw up, but I was nauseous 24/7 until week 13 or 14.

Has she tried different kinds of protein? Whey protein made me gag, so I tried a few different kinds than the ones I drank pre-pregnancy and had better luck. Egg and pea protein worked really well for me. If you visit the vitamin store, you can usually get single-serve packages so you don't buy a whole tub of something you hate.

I found I had better luck if I ate tiny meals and snacks all day long, and I kept track of what my stomach could do. The more bland the better! Hard-boiled eggs worked really well, and so did plain ground beef. Yogurt was weird, but string cheese was OK. I craved peanut butter, and my OB gave me the go-ahead, so I got single-serving tubs and had some every day.

Feel free to PM and I'll send you my email address, your wife can absolutely get in touch and we can commiserate and I can think of more things that helped :)

Ummm...you're pregnant, aren't you supposed to gain weight? My baby is six weeks old and I'm about 2 lbs above where I was when I got pg. I lost 5 lbs in the first trimester, then gained about 28 lbs over the pregnancy. I was six months out from RNY when I got pregnant. I didn't make a special effort to gain or lose weight, did eat more carbs than while losing, did not eat pints of ice cream, etc. I just tried to listen to my body and give it what it wanted.
