Only need to wait 3 months??
I'm considering getting my lap band revised to the sleeve b/c I've been having some complications but we're planning to get pregnant again in the near future. So we saw my surgeon yesterday to discuss the revision and he said that I only had to wait THREE MONTHS post-op to get pregnant!! I have never heard such a short time . . . I know there are alot of people who do get pregnant at 6 or 8 months post-op and do fine but I also know most doctors are still recommending 12-18 months. So I was really surprised at his answer. I mean, I already plan to wait at least 6-8 months post-op to get pregnant, but 3 months seems a little crazy.
Anyone else been told they don't have to wait at least a year?

Hmmm... interesting, I think part of it is with the VSG there is less worry about malnutrition as you don't have any malabsorption happening. I think part of waiting too is it is healthier for you and the baby to be at a smaller weight.

My doctor said 1 year. The biggest risk, he said, is that your system will be taxed from the weight loss-- liver working extra hard, that sort of thing-- and you don't want to be dealing with that AND making your body work extra-hard during pregnancy.
