Did anybody have trouble getting pregnant post-op?

I'm just a few weeks from my 1 year surgiversary, and my dr has given me his blessing to get pregnant.  Before WLS, we went through several months of treatment and tests and didn't get pregnant.  I've had PCOS since I was a teen, but I've been ovulating regularly since I turned 30.  My cycles have gone from 35 days to 28 since losing weight, but my luteal phase has gone from 15 days down to 10.  We never really found a clear reason why we couldn't get pregnant.

I've been charting the last 5 months, and actually trying the last 3 and nothing yet :(  We have an appointment scheduled with an RE in a month, but obviously I'm hoping that's not needed.

When i search on these forums, I see all kinds of post about infertile women pre-op getting their surprise baby post-op, but I haven't seen anything yet about women who still needed help to get pregnant post-op.

Anybody have experience with this??  Thanks :)

I haven't had trouble getting pregnant post-op, but I have dealt with a short luteal phase before.

It took 13months to get pregnant with my daughter...we were charting.  My LP was 10/11 days and my temps would drop at the 8th day, so it was a low quality LP for sure.

I took Vitamin B6 (100-200mg a day).  Vitamin B6 is supposed to help support the progesterone levels that make for a better quality LP and sometimes longer too.  You can get pregnant on a 9/10 day LP - but it can be challenging too.

I had orders to start the infertility testing and got pregnant the cycle right before that.  The doctor's plan (assuming there was no sperm issue) was to start me on Clomid to spur an earlier and stronger ovulation thus creating a higher quality luteal phase too.  Clomid comes with its own risks though and you should be monitored BEFORE ovulation to be sure you have a reasonable amount of follicles ready to go.  (My BFF had a scary overstimulation incident on clomid...16 mature eggs at once!  OMG!)

Skinny girls can have fertility problems too...and sometimes it is the guy's issue only too.

It is good that you are ovulating and great that you are charting and have that information ready to go.  I hope your wait is short and you get on the baby train ASAP!

Hello! I know this is an older post but I am curious how you are doing? I am struggling with TTC as well. I have had two miscarriages since having WLS. One of which was heterotopic (one in my tube and one in the uterus) the pregnancy was ended w/ methotrexate. I am currently in my 6 month wait after having methotrexate to try again. I am going to schedule an appt w/ a specialist soon to talk about other options, I don't want to try it on my own again. I am deathly afraid of losing one of my tubes.

We were able to do an IUI cycle right away in December - the dr used femara, trigger and progesterone starting 3 days after ovulation. I had 2 follicles - 18mm & 20mm on day of trigger. Unfortunately, hubby's numbers were REALLY low that day. Period is due tomorrow, and I tested negative yesterday, so probably no success this month.

I am am having an HSG done in January (to see if my tubes are clear), and hubs is taking mega vitamins and stopped his workout supplement to help his numbers (which were never an issue before), so we'll see.

I will say, though, that even though I've lost a ton of weight, my ovaries are still "pcos-y" - meaning I had about 20 antral follicles on each ovary at the beginning of my cycle. My hormones look great, though - androgens, insulin everything all looks normal (not pcos-y).
