Hey all I had rny 1/31/14 and found out a week and a hal*****hat I am pregnant.  It was unexpected, but we are extremely excited. Anyone else have experience getting pregant early out after surgery.

I am 6 months post VSG and 7.5w pregnant.  obviously not planned either.  my all-day sickness is bearable if I keep food in my stomach.  I've gotten the weight loss to slow down a lot so that should help the baby grow well.  vitamins make me worse, so I switched to a gummy prenatal with food and will take the extra iron at bedtime since gummies don't have iron.

I see my WLS clinic this week and my OB next week.  I know for sure I will have vitamin levels monitored and will see the high risk doc for growth ultrasounds on baby in 3rd trimester.

Congratulations on your little surprise.  I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you have a healthy little babe in your arms in the spring.

Thanks for your response. Congrats to you as well. Looks like we are pretty much in the same boat. So far no sickness,(knock on wood), I had it the whole pregnancy with my daughter. My doctors don't seem to concern with pregnacy so soon I do know I will be monitored a little more often though. I can deal with it as long as the child and I are both week. Best wishes and GOD bless you too 😃❤️

I had my 6 month follow up with the bariatric clinic yesterday.  I saw a nurse, then NP with a student.  I told the nurse taking my vitals that I was almost 8w pregnant and she notified the NP before he came into the room.

He walked in, congratulated me on the 100 pound loss, and then congratulated me on the baby.  I told him I was nervous about it and we weren't planning on this for a while - He said "while this may not be ideal timing, things happen for a reason, and 5 years from now, you might be happy this baby came sooner than you planned."

He never scolded me...just went right into the pregnant after WLS info including a packet the bariatrician wrote up with instructions for me and my OB in each trimester - what blood panels to get done, when to do the gestational diabetes test, suggested dietary changes for me and weight gain "allowances".  My OB and WLS are at 2 different hospital systems, so I can get my blood work done at either one and just make sure the records get shared.

I go back to the WL doc in 3 months and 6 months, I have a dietician appointment in 2 months, plus all the OB stuff.  I should be well taken care of.

As far as dietary stuff...adding snacks between my 3 meals is enough.  He said I should feel satisfied and don't need to go hungry - but I don't need to intentionally aim for a certain calorie amount either.  He wants me to try to get my meals closer to 1/2 cup in volume too (for loose stuff like cottage cheese or yogurt).  I was advised to keep my gain in the 10-15 pound range.  I gained 25 and lost it all by 6weeks post partum with my first 2 kids - so I am not going to stress about weight at all right now.  So far I am still slowly losing.

I have fasting (and no vits for 24hours) blood work tomorrow to check my levels, so I will get specific vitamin instructions next week.

I  was pregnant 6 months post op, sleeve. It was an ordeal. I just posted my story, a new thread titled "6 months post op and pregnant (last year)". Get to an OB right away, let them know you are volume restricted. morning sickness made me lose the little bit of food I ate and my body threatened miscarriage with bleeding twice in the first 9 weeks. I was put on artificial hormones (progesterone) via vaginal suppository.
