Age?

I am considering RNY surgery and am 34.  I really want to have children and I know I will need to wait 18 months before trying.  That will put me at about 36.  Has anyone had success with pregnancy at this age in the group??

I have PCOS so I do not ovulate.  My doctor is hoping with weight loss I will begin to ovulate on my own again.  I have tried Clomid and did have good sized follicles.  So everyone seems to think after surgery my issues should be gone.

Thanks.

I had a post op baby at 38 and another at 40! Both were very heathy, and I only gained 14 and 2 pounds respectively. It is totally possible!! I was the healthiest I ever was during the pregnancies.

I can't really speak for myself on this since I don't/didn't have PCOS and I had my RNY 9 years ago...(at age 20 and pre babies), but have read a lot of others stories and losing weight does help increase fertility!  36 isn't old to have babies...and with the weight loss...I think you would have a very good chance at successful pregnancies...pending no other health issues you may have! (But I am not a Dr. nor do I know your history...just going by what I have read about others)

I just turned 30 and am almost 35 weeks with my second post-op baby!

I hope you get the results you are looking for!  Best of luck to you!

PCOS myself and don't ovulate without hormonal treatment (in this case it was femara after clomiid didn't work) and just gave birth a month ago today. I'm 37.

Thanks!  I talked with my husband and we are going to proceed with the testing.  I cannot keep putting it off if I want kids.

Truthfuly: WLS will not for positively increase your fertility and allow ovulation for a PCOSer!

I am an example!

I had WLS 3 years ago, still needed Metformin 500 mg x 3 daily and Clomid to conceive!!! My husband and doctor would not allow Clomid prior to surgery. But, it is worth it. One cycle and I'm 26 weeks pregnant!

My doctors were realistic and said WLS may not increase my fertility but honestly said it would make me healthier to try Clomid and lower my blood pressure!

I wish you well in your journey Cheri
