Does anyone else think 18 months post op is too soon?

I had planned to wait 3 years after surgery before getting pregnant again but as we all know babies have their own time tables and seem to come when we think we least need them sometimes lol. But I was 18 months post op when I got pregnant (not trying) and now as I read more and more about women who have gotten pregnant after WLS I am starting to think Dr's should not be advising waiting 18 months I am starting think if I had waited another year my body might be better ready to deal with this and maybe my body would have been more healed and rested after the trauma of surgery and the weight loss.

So I was wondering if anyone else has come to this conclusion that we should be waiting longer than recommended to get pregnant?

My heaviest was 450 lbs which a truck scale told me so in 2007 I decided I had to change. I lost about 125 lbs over the next year but in 2009 I got pregnant with my first child and took the best care of myself I knew how which lead to me losing weight and getting down to 280.  But that was short lived and with in about 4 months I was back to 325 and pregnant again. I lost again but again was quickly gaining when I asked for help from my doctor.  I met my bariatric surgeon for a consult on June 26 2011 and on September 13 2011 I had gastric sleeve.  Since then I have lost 134 lbs and had another child.  Currently I eat "Clean" and do not take any type of medication or vitamin.  My body is healthy and strong, I get all the vitamins and calcium I need from my diet and my doctors are happy with my success and lifestyle changes and so am I.  My goal was always to be healthy so I wanted a healthy weight based on BMI.  My goal weight was 164lbs.  I surpassed that and got to 150lbs but was too skinny and now am comfortable around 160.

I was 6 months out when I got pregnant with my daughter and she was healthy and I carried her to full term. I had no issues. Honestly 12-18 months is reasonable to me.

I think for the weightloss part of it, yes you are correct. My body handled pregnancy very easily but I ended up gaining a lot of weight with my 1st post op baby! I was always worried that the baby was not getting enough! So after I gave birth, I had a hard time losing the weight! Even after "going back to
The basics". Then got pregnant again! I am now 33 weeks and scared to see the numbers go up at each visit, even though I have a different mentality about it this time and I do not see such a jump at each appointment! I mean after 20
Weeks, I went up 10 lbs a month!

i was post op 18 months. as long as your weight isn't in flux, there shouldn't be any issue. although i did have banding.
