Pregnant and have to do 3 hour glucose test

I am 10 years post op and pregnant.  I just found out that I need to have the three hour glucose test.  I tolerated the 1 hour glucose test just fine with no issues and have done so twice during this pregnancy.  Even being 10 years post op I do sometimes get sick to my stomach if I have to much sugar.  Has anyone ever done the 3 hour glucose test and not had any problems?

I had to do it with my preop pregnancy and it was awful (I know, probably not what you want to hear).  Is there an alternative they'd be willing to do?

I never have dumping and I had it during my 1hr test. I contacted my gastric bypass Dr and he about had a cow that my Obgyn had me do a regular glucose test. He also said he has had patients who were hospitalized after doing the 3hr test. I didn't have to do another test but the Dr did say there were other options. I've heard u can get blood work then get breakfast then come back and.get blood work. I would definitely contact your surgeon and if you can't contact them since its been 10yrs I'd contact another one.

I refused to do the glucose tolerance test. I called my sugeon's office and they agreed with my decision. As an alternative, they asked me to do a fasting blood sugar test and then go eat a meal and come back an hour later and do a second blood sugar test.

My obgyn office doesn't do the glucose tolerance test on any bariatric patient. They have other options they do instead. I am a diet controlled diabetic so I didnt have to do it anyway but do have to check my sugars 4 times a day. I would see if they can do another option instead.

i passed the first trimester one-hour tests fine early on in my pregnancy. when it came time for the last one in my third trimester, that's the one that came back elevated. i have a bad history with the three hour test causing migraines and making me sick to my stomach for a week. it's too much sugar in one sitting. i don't know what causes it i just know it makes me nauseous. as an aside, i asked what the upshot was if i failed that one, i was told, a glucometer and sticking my fingers four times a day to measure my blood sugar and having to walk my food intake even closer until i gave birth. i opted for the glucomter. they said if my sugars came back normal they'd cut it down to every a few days, but so far it's been having a pain in the rear for the evening meal.
