Difference betweed Dollar store Pregnancy test and First Response
So my lurking has raised a question, I was wondering what the difference was between a test from the dollar store and a more expensive test like First Response or Clear Blue Easy.
I have one of both ready for my two week waiting period to be over. I bought the Dollar store one because, hey it was $1 and I could not believe they sold them there.
But then the crazy took over and I thought I had better get a higher quality test so I bought a first resonse.....ummm ya $14 for two test sticks.
So girls what's the difference?

I bought a bunch of internet cheapies (like this- http://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Pregnancy-Test-Strips-25-count/dp/B0002YIQEQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363990683&sr=8-1&keywords=wondfo+pregnancy+test) and got my BFP on 11 dpo. While the expensive ones are nice, they aren't worth it if you're a POAS addict. Also, walmart has ones for $.88 that work well too.
That said, I had some digitals and it was great to see "pregnant" pop up, but that was only after I had a faint line on a cheapie.

My guess is there is very little difference! When I had a natural miscarriage 12 yrs ago at 13 weeks--I was told to take a test a month after to confirm there were no remaining products in me--I refused to buy an expensive one and bought the cheapest I could find and it came up positive so OB made me come directly in for a beta level blood test--it was 25 which is like 1 day pregnant so I think they work well and that was 12 yrs ago!!!!!!!!!
There are a lot of first response advocates out there, but I don't really know if there is a difference. I've used both. With my current pregnancy I used a Walmart one which was around 4 bucks, and when it showed up positive I moved to a digital test just so I could see the pregnant or not pregnant result. I didn't have to guess with lines and such. Good luck, I think if you're pregnant and you don't test too early you'll get a positive result regardless of the brand. Again, good luck I hope the 2WW goes fast for you :)
I used to be a big advocate of the dollar store tests, but I've recently changed my tune. They're definitely not as sensitive as the First Response, so if you're looking for early testing, FR is probably going to catch it sooner. I recently had a miscarriage and had my levels tested while taking dollar store tests to check for lingering lines. When my HCG was 80, I got a test line that could only be seen when I held it up to the light, squinted at, etc. As my hormones got down to 40, there was no test line left on the dollar store test. First Response can pick up HCG around 20.
