Post-op birth control

I'm 2 months post-op now (55 pounds down, about 70 to goal). One of the main reasons I had the surgery was so we could eventually get pregnant but I am concerned about getting pregnant before a year out (when my surgeon said we could start trying).  I am using the NuvaRing because I heard about so many people using oral contraceptives that still got pregnant (due to absorption issues likely) and we didn't want that....but this NuvaRing is really giving me a rough go making things not fun and actually hurt.  Then today I've also read NuvaRing isn't as effective if you're over 200 pounds (which I am). So, now I'm contemplating going to oral so we can enjoy again and just let whatever happens happen.  I've read so many stories of healthy pregnancies and babies earlier out than 12-18 months so I guess if it happens it wouldn't be the worst thing ever right?

Uuggh...just so hard to decide what to do. Seems like everyone has had completely different experiences. To bad there isn't one good answer. :)  Hope you decided what to do!

I resumed the pill the day I was cleared for liquids. My doctor said as long as I was not having excessive diarrhea or vomiting (as with anyone) the pill would be protection enough.

My support group people encouraged a backup method.

We used 2 methods for about 8 months when I felt certain if we had an oops! I could eat enough to maintain a pregnancy.

I think too, it grately depends on the type of surgery you have- malabsorption issues and all.
