Spotting
I've had a little light spotting today. Just a few times, and not bright red. I'm hopeful that it is normal (although I've never had any with either of my other pregnancies). I'm planning on calling the doctor on Monday to schedule my first appointment. I was expecting that they wouldn't want to see me until eight weeks, but now I'm hoping they'll get me in for blood work or an ultrasound to make sure everything is good. Keeping fingers crossed!
Possibly implantation bleeding-especially if not bright red and light to dark brown in color? I had the same experience when pregnant with my 1st at around 6 weeks. Irritation to the cervix, such as after intercourse, can also cause it. With this pregnancy, they saw a subchorionic bleed during one of the initial ultrasounds, which was pretty big, so I was certain I would see/have spotting but nothing, ti just reabsorbed itself, but they did warn me that it could cause spotting as well. I am now 27 weeks with this pregnancy and all is well. Hopefully your spotting is as a result of something simple and will resolve and have no issues. Keep us posted and hang in there, as easy as that is to say....
They typically do blood tests 48-72 hrs apart to see if your hcg levels are doubling as they should be--since bleeding is very common 1st trimester. They usually won't do an ultrasound till your levels confirm you are far enough along where you should see a heartbeat.
Hope everything is ok, I know the wondering is hard.
I'm getting ready to do our 2nd IUI in a couple weeks and I'm getting antsy again but excited too!
Good luck!
Thanks for checking in! When I woke up this morning, the spotting was definitely more like actual blood. I was pretty sure that this was going to be the end. When I talked to the doctor, she said that they could do blood work, but at this point it was up to me. I know that having my levels checked isn't going to help anything, but dragging two toddlers to the lab today and again on Wed definitely don't count as "taking it easy". So, I decided against the blood work. She said that since I have no pain, it is a pretty good sign. If I make it through the week without any heavy (basically a full period) bleeding, then we can do an ultrasound at 6 weeks to check things out. So, now I wait. The frustrating part is that as soon as I'm sure this is "it", the bleeding lessens. Just when I start to relax and think that everything is going to be fine, the bleeding gets worse again. I've made peace with the fact that there is nothing I can do but wait. I just hope if this is going to end in mc, that it happens sooner than later. False hope is not my thing!
