9 weeks pregnant and 4.5 years out, still down 100 pounds

I have not gained a pound yet. I monitor my weight daily like I did before I got pregnant. But I'm so worried that my weight gain is going to spin out of control. My husbands worried too because both his ex-wife's were so skinny before getting pregnant and then they ballooned with out if control weight gain. I cannot be like them! I cannot gain weight. I didn't lose over 100 pounds and kept it off for 4.5 years. Including during that 4.5 of maintaining years being unemployed, ex husband cheating, ex husband getting kicked out of military, moving out of state, getting divorced and moving back to home state, and then moving to a different country with my current husband. Anyone have any words of encouragement?

It's unrealistic to say you will not gain weight during a pregnancy---I think it's more realistic to say I will eat my protein first, I will drink my water, I will take my vitamins and I will have a plan in place to deal with the carb cravings.  Most OB's expect a weight gain of around 30 lbs (and from what I know most normal weight women gain more like 40).  Keep exercising, keep focusing on being healthy, don't let your weight balloon out of control.

Relax!  You are not anyone else, so try not to compare too much (I know, easier said than done).  Pregnancy does not need to translate to years of weight struggle.  With my first pregnancy (pre surgery) I gained 20 pounds and lost it all by the time the baby was 2 weeks old.  At the time, I chalked a lot of that up to the fact that I was obese at the time I got pregnant.  6 months post op, I got pregnant with baby #2.  I was just over a normal BMI when I got pregnant.  With that pregnancy, I gained 18 lbs and again lost it all right after the baby was born.  I'm now trying for #3 and I weigh less than I did in the 8th grade.  When I'm pregnant I certainly TRY to eat healthy and I make sure to eat nutritious meals so that I'm getting everything the baby needs, however, I'm human and I certainly give in to my fair share of cravings along the way.  I made sure to weigh every day so that I would know immediately if things were getting out of control.

You will definitely gain some weight while pregnant, that is a given.  However, it is the women who go crazy and gain 50, 70, 100 lbs that are left struggling at the end.  "Eating for two" does not mean doubling your calories.  Most doctors will recommend increasing your calories by about 300.  Good luck!

From the experience of my 2 post-op pregnancies, I was expected to gain 30-35 lbs and increase my calories 300-400 a day (not double them or do anything totally crazy).  You cannot be going into ketosis with pregnancy, as that is bad for the baby's brain development so you do need carbs.  You can totally gain the weight needed for your pregnancy and lose it again.  Don't compare yourself to his exes.  You are totally different person.  I maintained through 2 pregnancies and a lot of very stressful events before I regained some, then I lost it again.  You have perserverved through a lot and you can keep your weight off after pregnancy.
