Has anyone had to have a fetal echocardiogram?

I had my anatomy ultrasound Feb 1st and they were not able to see all four chamber of my baby's heart

I am being sent for a fetal echocardiogram.  From what I have read online color ultrasound that is very detailed on the heart

I am very anxious that my little peanut is not healthy.  I know my ob and nurse practitioner are being over cautious with me but it doesn't help.

Has any one else had to have one done?

Here is also hoping that they can give me a more definite answer as to what my little peanut is

We were sent to a perinatologist for screening of birth defects and renal systems check.

At 11 weeks- we saw all the heart and in color...As the heart worked one color flowed in and another came out- it was a 2-D ultrasound...The heart was working well- The renal system was not forming so we had to go back. He did a head stand and spread his legs...we knew his heart was ok but not sure about the liver and kidneys. Yes, we knew he was a boy at 11 weeks gestation!

At 17 weeks- all the parts were there, formed and good.

They also found out my birth defect was not chromosomal.

A regular ultrasound and the operator is simple at best. So, don't fret until you go to the specialist. A tech is not a doctor nor does the obgyn have the time at a ultrasound as a perinatologist...I wish you well and send prayers

With my second pregnancy ds did not cooperate position wise for the 20 week ultrasound and they didn't get a clear picture of the heart, and my ob sent me for a fetal echocardiogram to make sure everything was ok--it's a much closer look at the heart--they zoom in more but be prepared when you go for it they are no longer looking for just the 4 chambers of the heart they have a list of like 20 things they are specifically looking for so it took FOREVER and ds still didn't cooperate at the first apt so I had to go back for another follow up to get all the pictures.   So just be prepared that it's a long test but that doesn't mean anything is wrong.

My Fiancee Has Tretology Of Fallot which is a heart defect so with all my pregnancies I had to get one done. With my 2nd son There was nothing wrong but with this pregnancy they said that there are 2 things he needs to look at after the baby is born small things nothing major he has some fluid around his heart which he said will go away on its own a few weeks after birth and something else I didnt quite understand ( The dr was Arabic and I couldnt understand him well) Any ways he said that it too would fix its self and that it was nothing major. Be sure to drink alot of water so they can get good pictures. My Lo Cooperated very well The dr said t usually takes and hr to go done but mine only took 20 mins bc the pictures were so clear and the baby cooperated well..I hope all is well and that your little one is healthy!

They dont give you pics from the eco . They are mainly looking at the heart and all the chambers but they do measure the babys head  and leg and arm to see that they are on track for gestational age and they will not look at the sex of the baby either

I did not know that is what it was called but based on the descriptions above I did have that with my 1st pregnancy it sounds like. I was seeing my OB and a perinatologist who did my Ultrasounds. Like the poster explained it allows them to see the flow in and out of the heart, arteries, chambers, etc and is in color...mine was blue and red....everything was normal. Sometimes babies can be stubborn and not allow for a good image with a standard US.
