Hello,

Last weekend I found out I am pregnant, about 6 weeks.  I have an appointment to see my OBGYN on Valentines day.  My concern is that I found out I am pregnant so I upped my calories to 800-900 and my carbs to 50-75 this week and have already gained 3.6 pounds since Monday.

Until last week I was eating around 600 cals and 20 carbs.

I am not sure how I should eat and I feel that waiting another week to see my OB will mean that I  will gain another 5 pounds or so.

My baby's health is the most important for me, but if I can carry it the 40 weeks with the minimal weight gain, I would love to do that.

Anyone that can give me any advise, please do so!

Thanks

Celina

My Ob Suggests 1200 calories a day and add some carbs. But make sure they are healthy carbs Ill be 27 weeks on monday and Ive gained 10 lbs so far. Your weight gain could just be water weight try to stay away from salty foods and continue to eat lean meats and high protein foods.  My daily meals are usually

Egg whites with Cheese and a Hasbrown

Ground turkey Taco meat with Refried Beans cheese and Ff Sour cream lettuc n Tamatoes, and                        (Tortilla chips not so good but hey)

or ground turkey sloppy joes over a hasbrown with cheese.

Light or Fat free yogurt. Greek Yogurt is a really good choice but its too expensive for me lol.

I was doing powercrunch protein bars from walmart for a while too.

I will take Low fat part skim mozzerella cheese and put turkey peperoini in a bowl with pizza sauce and stick it in the microwave for two mins and eat that its just like pizza without the dough and it has a good amount of protein.

String cheese and cottage cheese if you like those are good choices and I also Eat alot of grilled chicken with salad.

I dont usually stray away from this menue and Ive done fairly well so far with my weight gain and My baby is measureing a week ahead of my due date :) My Vitamen levels are excellent as well.. One way I stay not hungry is I always Make sure I drink alot of water! Hope this helps.. :)

There is no way you will continue to gain weight on 900 calories  a day--the 3.6 lbs is probably just fluid retention from increasing your carbs.

I am guessing your ob will recommend 1200-1500 calories  a day.

Also keep in mind that the 3-4 month mark is usually a huge dreaded stall point that most do hit. Completely normal and is more than likely water weight!
