Will Femera lengthen luteal phase?
I had an unmedicated IUI on Jan 25. Was expecting to test on Friday, but didn't make it before I started yesterday. Doctor put me on Femera to start tomorrow. What I'm not understanding is I had a great follicle this go round with out drugs, but my luteal phase was only 11 days. He says the reason my luteal phase is short is because I don't have much fat so my estrogen probably isn't high. Wouldn't it make more sense to give a hormone to lengthen that phase instead of a drug for ovulation? Anyone had this and did it work? (BTW, I have too many issues to list right now and my DH has very low count and motility. IUI is about our only choice.)
Good luck!
I did not do an IUI but did take Femara with my 1st pregnancy (along with some other meds) and it worked for me. I had previously taken Clomid for several months prior with the max dosage and no success. I have PCOS so my cycles and ovulation are way off. The side effects for me for Femara were also much less than those of the Clomid.
I like Samara was Clomid resistant. Femara worked wonders for me. I have two babies because of it.
Femara will usually make your lutueral phase 14-18 days. I took it CD3-CD7.
Side effects were way less than clomid. Clomid I gained weight and was a hormonal crazy person. Femara I was my usual self.
Good Luck.
