Anemia and nausea (sigh)

Hi everyone. I'm a 34 year old mother of 3, almost 5 years post WLS. I had 3 kids while morbidly obese, this is my first time going in at a size 8. I'm 14 weeks and due 8/5 (the day after my 1st wedding anniversary to my darling husband).

I'm having difficulty with not only anemia and being super tired all the time but also being nauseous on an empty stomach. It was ingrained that snacking was a no no post WLS, and I worked hard to get past the emotional snacking/eating in general. I'm wondering how to deal with that, what I can keep handy in my purse that is WLS friendly-I still dump horribly with high carbs, and how much iron I should be taking?

My OB doesn't seem well versed in patient needs when it comes to this and told me to take slow release FE. It's not working. I tried taking it 2x a day and it tore up my tummy.

Any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

When I had the morning sickness, I just grazed on pretzels to keep it at bay and I didn't gain any weight while I was doing that--I just made sure to keep focused and stop the grazing when the nausea/vomitting stopped!

I have been taking 29 mg of bariatric advantage chewable iron and just showed up anemic last week--(iron level was great prior to pregnancy, at 9 weeks and at 15 weeks, showed up low at 27 weeks) and they had me double my iron and will recheck me at some point to see if it's enough.

I'm not sure about iron content but Adkins makes a low sugar bar that I have never had dumping with. Worth trying! Good luck!

I have pretty bad anemia and also experienced bad nausea/vomiting for all of my first and even into the 2nd trimester. I was also fainting frequently which was scary and annoying. I was told to try and eat frequent meals, stay hydrated as much as possible, and also to increase salt in my diet by a cardiologist I saw for the fainting. I have low blood pressure and cholesterol so salt not a concern for now. I keep all kinds of stuff in my purse/car/bag to include fruit-apples, oranges and also trail mix, beef jerky, crackers, peanut butter, I am like a traveling grocery store. I don't dump easily, at least not on carbs, so am ok in that aspect. As for the Iron, I had infusions prior to pregnancy, and no in addition to my prenatal I take a prescriber Iron called Corvite.
