Pregnancy before surgery

I want to have a baby with my boyfriend but I am in the process of trying to have weight loss surgery. I was thinking I should go ahead and try for a baby before i have surgery because I want to be able to have plastics when I get to my goal weight. I am 334 lbs right now so I am unsure if having a baby now is a bad idea. I am planning on having the DS and I am really afraid to have a baby after having the DS it just makes me nervous because of having ro take supplements for life and the protein intake. I just think that would be alot on my body. I am 20 about to be 21 but I am still unsure of having a baby before surgery or if it is safe to have a baby after surgery.

First i want to say congrats on making the choice to become healthier. In my opinion I  would wait until after surgery to have  the baby. Only because being  healthier at the time you get pregnant is better for you and better for the  baby. There has been studies done  that shows that  most over weight  woman  who wait to have babies after  weight loss surgery  have less complications then they would if they  did not have the surgery. You have to do what is right for you. Talk to your doctors and see what they say. I would base it on  your health. Good luck to you whit what ever  you choose to do.

I agree with the prior post...health first...then baby! Lots of women have had babies post WLS! It truly is a gift you give yourself to be healthy as well as your baby! You are young and have lots of baby making years ahead of you!! Good luck with whatever choice you decide is right for you and your family! Only you can decide which path is for you!

Can't agree more.  Focus on the surgery, get to your goals, and even have plastics if you want to prior to the baby.  I had a tummy tuck 4 years prior to my first baby, and with properly taking care of myself after the baby, I bounced right back to flat abs, and in great heath.  (Mind you it includes good eating and exercise).   Long answer short, don't put off surgery for a baby as I think the process all together will become easier if you are heathy.

Good Luck!  Stacey
