50mg clomid a bust ;(

Well it didn't work, like I already knew. I felt in my hearts of hearts that it wasn't gonna work. Well my cd21 progesterone level was a 1.....one, a freaking ONE. Which is awful!!!!!! They want levels 10+. I feel defeated and defected and just miserable. When I was fat I was fertile now I am skinny but my body turns against me.
My clomid has been upped to 100mg and I start tomorrow. Labs will again be drawn in 3 weeks to see if yet another increase is needed. I am like why not give me 150mg bc obviously the 50mg did nothing and I doubt the 100mg will do that much better. Ughhhhhhhhh! I have no one to talk to as no one knows that we are ttc but yet my MIL won't shut up and keeps asking if we pregnant! Arggggggg!!!!!!

Sorry that 50mg Clomid didn't work for you.  I am on the same dose and I don't think that it's working for me either.  At least your doc is being proactive and upping your dose.  Hopefully you will have a BFP next month.

I did ask to be put on 100mg and the OB/GYN didn't want to risk putting me on that dosage for the chance of multiples or over stimulation.  I told her that I would take multiples in a heart beat, because more than one is better than none. But alas I'm on 50mg, we are in the BD'ing phase this week...

Yes, the blood test proves what I already felt and knew d/t lack of symptoms and not 1 positive OPK. My progesterone was a 1 which is crazy low. The nurse didn't seem to think that even the100mg would be sufficient. She said if they upped it again and my levels didn't raise I would be referred out to an RE . This all just stinks! God willing this cycle will be different, better and with a BFP at the end of it
Sorry your dr wouldn't up your dose. What about doing an IUI? I have heard soo many success stories with it! If anything consult another dr! They should want the BFP as much as you both do! Good luck girly and I pray the end of the ttw finds your pleasantly surprised!
Please continue to update, I know we are few among all those fertile mertiles , but I love keeping up with those in the same boat as me. Celebrating those BFPs are not "better" but we know how we have struggled and what we gone through just to see a BFP, and it makes it extra nice when we get to celebrate a miracle that was very muched worked on and prayed for 8)

I'm sorry to hear that the clomid didn't make you ovulate :( It's actually pretty common for those of us who struggle for it to not work every time. Have you been diagnosed with PCOS by any chance? There is a great website that I love www.soulcysters.net with lots of message boards and its super helpful. Are you sure you were fertile before you lost weight? How do you know?

Don't feel bad if you end up needing an RE. It was by far the best experience for me. We needed injectable meds and IUI to get pregnant, but it worked on the first round! The good news is there are lots of ways to make those eggs drop!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you Nikki! I have a son that I had prior to WLS and while using NFP. My cycles were normal, every 28days with ovulation pains on cd12-14. My cm reflected this as well. Post RNY (6/6/11)my period went Waco. I went off bc November 2011 and my periods were every 15-18 days for months! I went to my ob who said that due to my body being stressed after surgery it might take some time to get back to "norm". June 2012 they increased to 21 days. And now run anywhere from 22-26. I have had ultrasounds previously and PCOS was never detected. I did however bust 2 cysts Dec 2011 but they stated there was only 2 and nothing wrong was seen on my ovaries. I has recently diagnosed with Hashimotos disease august 2012 and no meds are currently needed. My pregnancy was normal, though I was 270+ lbs. I have a feeling that I will need injectables. I am kinda lost. Do I switch to an RE now or wait to see if clomid helps with this cycle? I don't want to waste time. I really want a baby this year and that means I need to get pregnant by March at the latest.
I will not do IVF, but will try everything else I am glad everything worked for you! What was your med regimen? How did they make you feel? What tests did they do prior?

I'm sorry your cycles went wacky after losing weight. You are definitely not the "norm" as I'm sure you know. But thats ok! I've really learned that almost everything is workable with an RE! The fact that you had one child already really is in your favor.

It took me 3 months to get in with the RE in my area. I would suggest getting an appt set up as you could end up with an appt a few months out. And in the meantime if you get pregnant with clomid you could just cancel your appt!

I took one shot of HMG daily for a couple of weeks to create multiple follicles with eggs to develop and then a shot of HCG to trigger ovulation. I had ultrasound monitoring to see how the follicles were developing along with blood work to test my estradoil level. I ended up needing a higher dose of the hormone than my RE thought I would based on my age. I ended up with one good follie on my left ovary and 4 on my right. I only have a fallopian tube on my left side due to a previous ectopic pregnancy :( When the follies were matture, I took the shot of HCG. 2 days later I had an IUI to ensure that there were sperm exactly where they needed to be, despite my DH having a great seman analysis.

I ended up pregnant with twins (RE thinks a second follie developed at the last minute on my left ovary) but one of the babies appeared genetically abnormal and my body reabsorbed it between 8.5 and 10.5 weeks gestation. Luckily we were blessed with one healthy, adorable baby.

I am headed back to my RE this summer, when my son is about a year old to discuss the plan for baby #2. I am nervous about doing injectable meds again because the risk of multiples is so high... but with only having one tube, I really only have a chance to get pregnant every other month at most even with clomid. I tried clomid for 3 months previously and I ovulated each time but didn't get pregnant. And never had multiple eggs release from just clomid. So I'm not toally sure what the future holds for us!

I didn't feel any side affects from the injectable meds. I did however have a pretty painful ovulation.... but that makes sense since I released so many eggs! I also developed a huge fluid filled cyst on one of my ovaries from the injects, but it didn't hurt and went away on its own slowly. I didn't have any side affects with clomid. I think I had general blood work prior to my inject cycle but I can't actually remember.... I had blood tests for hormones through my OB previously that I passed along.

Please keep me posted on your journey! I'm excited for you!

Thank you Nikki for all that info!
I went ahead and made an appointment with an RE for February 1st I will be CD 27 that day (if I make it that long, they have only been 23 days). I plan to test that day and if I get a BFP then GREAT and I can cancel, but if not then I have the appointment and won't "waste" a month.
This is a question my husband brought up and didn't know what to say......
Say this round on 100mg DOES work BUT I don't get pregnant, should I keep the appointment with the RE? I will have labs drawn the Friday before the appointment and know the results on the Monday before, so I will know what my progesterone level was and if I ovulated. If my levels are bad again then I already know I have an appointment with an RE. But if they are good what should I do?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??! Ugh.... decisions!!!!

Do you have insurance that covers your appt with your RE? I went to my RE even though I did ovulate on clomid 3 x. RE's are really good at keeping you pregnant early on as well. I would definitely switch to the RE even if you do ovulate on clomid but don't get pregnant. My OB will only prescribe 3 rounds of clomid before referring to an RE, and I have friends that had similar experiences :)

My insurance covers 80/20 for diagnostic testing of infertility but will only cover to up 2k in a yr....that's seems low to me, especially how everything is soo $$$$. The consult is a co pay but it is the afterwards I'm worried about. I want someone aggressive, but also one who doesn't want to put me through 100tests when they may not all be needed.
I believe my dr said if I didn't get pg within 3 cycles of the right dose then he would refer me out. But the nurse said that if the 100mg doesn't work the 150 probably won't either and he would probably refer me out if the test comes back wayyy too low again.
I am going to ask about fermara, though I have read some iffy things about it.
I am praying soo hard this works but if not then I have the appointment on the 1st 8)
