Coming back
I have talked to my surgeon, they don't seem to know a whole lot about pregnancy after RNY, and my OB is a high risk dr, but does not have great advice... He wants to give me at "least 2 glucose test", I told him that the one I had last time sent everything south, but he is still insisting!
Congrats on your 4th baby! I'm sorry that you are feeling so bad. I know exactly what you mean about the glucose test sending everything south!! I did mine and I was like ok this is not bad I'm not throwing up, my stomache doesn't hurt. . . and then just a little over and hour after I drank it I had to run to the bathroom and it was completely evacuated south. . .lol. Sorry for the TMI.
I hope you feel better, have a happy new year!!

Congrats and welcome back. I too had the same issues to the point of fainting. Like the others said small, frequent meals tends to help and I make sure to always have snacks and a bottle of water or juice with me to try and avoid it if I feel it coming on...sweats...heart palpitations, etc. I had/have pretty bad morning sickness so also found it hard to eat but even if I threw it up I just tried to eat something again....crackers with PB, fruit, granola bar, whatever I could. As for the glucose test, I was lucky and avoided the drink but instead had to do finger *****s 4 times a day for two weeks and the monitor tracked it and then they read the results at OBs office. Not sure what the approach will be this time but I still have the monitor I got with last pregnancy so as much as I hate the finger *****s I may opt to do that again because the drink and the aftermath effects DOES NOT appeal to me.
I would second the PB and crackers as the PB does have the protein to help keep the blood sugar up and the crackers turn to sugar and bring it up fairly quickly. As for the glucose testing my OB did a fasting glucose then i ate a high carb meal then an hour later glucose check followed by another check in an hour. I had to do that twice during the preg and worked well for me. Hope your feeling better soon and congrats on the new baby.
