Glucose Test Question???

I'll be 3 years post op on March 2nd from a Gastric Bypass RNY and I am 6 months pregnant with twin boys due on March 10th. Tomorrow is my glucose test. . .where I have to drink that orange soda flavored thing and then get my blood drawn to see if I have gestational diabetes. Now I have been wondering is my body going to respond differently because of the RNY? Can everyone please share their stories and let me know how it went for them. . .another thing I'm worried about is dumping, I really don't want to get it and am afraid I will

I didn't do that test and I am 7 years out from RNY due to dumping expected; however, with that said I have seen many women on here that have.  My first pregnancy they treated me as if I had gestational diabetes, I tested several times a day etc.  With this one, we are going to try a me meal then blood drawl.  Many dr have different solutions than the drink.

To understand what your body might do....my dr. told me how would I react to 50 jellybeans at one time...my answer I would get very sick.  For me it's the type of sugar, not that it's sugar necessarily, if that makes any sense.

Good luck!

I totally understand what you mean.  Like I can eat a piece of cake and be fine but give me some jelly beans and I'm sick as a dog.  I can eat certain types of ice cream but others make me sick. I told my OB that I was worried about taking it, that I would probably get sick but he told me to do it anyway

My OB is doing a blood draw- A1C test. It gives them an average of blood sugars from the past 3 months, so you dont have to drink the sugar.

I wish i would have that option. I literally just finished drinking that crap. . I couldn't chug it like they asked me to, I could just barely fit it all in I feel it in my throat! I have to be to my OB by 10:30 now so they can draw my blood. We'll see how it goes.

How did it go after drinking the stuff for the test? Any dumping symptoms or anything? What were your results?

OMG it was actually really hard to take the drink..  . .the doctor told me that I had to chug it but it actually took me like 10 minutes to be able to drink the whole thing. I felt it coming up in my throat and I was starting to hyperventilate and I started sweating and everything. I really thought it was all going to come right back up but I laid down for a little bit and surprisingly it didn't. I went to the doc and they took my blood but I have to wait a week or two now for the results.  So i was leaving the office and I had to head back to work and it was just around lunch time so I was starving, THANK GOD that I was starving because I decided to stop in subway to get a sandwich and as soon as I walked into the subway I had to run to the bathroom. I didn't vomit... .well not from my mouth at least. . .lol. . .sorry if thats TMI. All the orange drink came right out. . lol.  So it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Thanks so much for asking
