Found out today that we are expecting. I had the sleeve Feb 28/11 we got pregnant on one year sleeve anniversary. Unfortunately  we  miscarried this past April. I am now pregnant again and wondering about diet, I do not want another miscarriage. I have been taking a prenatal vitamin the last few months. I know milk can sometimes really upset my tummy so I don't have it much but I have cheese and cottage cheese. Might need to take a calcium supplement. What do you guys do for food now and how much extra do you eat in a day. I am a little scared right now and want to do this right.

thanks for any info in advance

Oh and now I have seen a surgeon for my gallbladder as it has been acting up and I have stones. Guess that will be put on the back burner. I have maintained by 161 lbs since Feb so it might be a struggle watching my weight go up

i'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage, but it's unlikely that was caused by diet. if you don't get enough calcium, the baby will leach it from your system. the baby will find a way to get the calcium it needs, but you aren't getting enough calcium in your diet, yyou'll typically end up with osteoporosis. this is what my nutritionist tells me anyhow. i too am having trouble with milk, which is odd since i like milk, but so far i've only been able to tolerate 2%. so i've been consuming low fat mozzarella sticks and low fat cottage cheese, as well as kale/collard greens and other dark green veggies like broccoli and spinach. just remember that your body cannot absorb all the calcium in one sitting so you need to spread it out through out the day.

as for nutrition, right now, i'm still eating as i did before. my doctor doesn't want to take out any restriction from the band presently because she doesn't want me gaining more than 10-15 pounds total. so i still eat six small meals a day. i jus****ch it much closer to make sure i'm getting in the protein and calcium i need as well as my prenatal with 800mg of folic acid. six small meals keeps your levels balanced as well, which studies show is better for baby development then three large meals a day.
