constipation and Pregnancy
Hi Ladies,
I was wondering if while pregnant especially late pregnancy did you experiance bad constipation? I know its common with the digestion slowing and then baby gets big and pushes organs around to make room. I noticed since my sleeve nov 2011 I had to do fiber 2 times a day. since pregnancy even with fiber I only have a bm twice a week.. what are everyone's favorite high fiber foods (besides prunes haha) I'm almost 36 weeks and want to avoid straining. warning more tmi coming. the hardest thing with this problem is I don't even have the urge to go then I take miralax or just fiber powder and like it all piles up and comes out after a couple trips to the bathroom. my biggest fear is getting so backed up I will gave to go to the ER and get emptied out there. well thanks for taking the time to read my post and sorry for the tmi.
i only suffered constipation for a couple of weeks mid pregnancy. but i'm only 35 weeks. so maybe i'm not there yet. i try to drink fiber in my teas but i don't drink tea every day. i find that things like lettuce or fruits with peels def make me go the next day. also i did juicing with kale, apples, lemon and that cleaned out my system too. coconu****er is like...a natural laxative and its supposed to be super hydrating too. which seems like a contradiction. you don't wanna drink it every day. but try it one day. i drank it and oh baby i was in the bathroom later that day. so try that, try salads, try apples and oranges or clementines (eat the stringy parts) and that stuff should help. also corn! lol that goes right through. oh and beans.
you should have luck with those things. trust me! lol. good luck!!
not pregnant (yet - fingers crossed) but I take "pearls IC" it's a TINY pill that is a probiotic and it keeps me very regular - I also have an AWESOME recipe for prune "fig newtons" very WLS friendly (super yummy) and will definitely keep you regular!!!! I gave the recipe to Nik at Bariatric Foodie (she posted it on her site) - here is the link:

UGH!!! That is what is happening to me right now also. I am 2 1/2 yrs post op from Gastric Bypass RNY and now that I am pregnant it is so much worse. I eat fiber one cereal and whole milk and that actually does help. My favorite is frosted mini wheats and I find that the high fiber oatmeal helps too. Good luck!!
