My baby boy's heartbeat stays at 145 now at 21 weeks preg but in the start of my pregnancy his heart rate was 160-165. I found out what I was having at 15 weeks and they looked again at 20 weeks and he is still a boy lol.

My little girl so far has been at 130-140 for the heart rate. my son I wanna say was around the same maybe slightly higher. can't wait for you to find out and let us know how exciting :) my friend found out gender at 14 weeks a girl ....but a month before due date she found out it was actually a boy lol. an ultrasound tech I met with 20 years experiance told me it can take up to 24 weeks for the testicles to descend. I found out at 17 weeks I was having a girl and sure enough i've had 6 techs confirm it. (I do ultrasound OB modeling) sound like your person has been right on the money before so thats good. i think experiance and a cooperative baby is always a good combination.

It has nothing to do with the babys position and the experience of the tech, the baby is not developed enough at 13 weeks to tell. Some people may think it is possible at 13 weeks because when they get another ultrasound later in the pregnancy is the same as what it was earlier  think about it it's a 50 50 chance so it's not unlikely that they can guess it but at 13 weeks its only a guess and not an acurate one. I delivered my baby still born at almost 18 weeks and it was a tough call then and we were looking directly at her and not thru an ultrasound.

Gender can be determined in the first trimester. While the untrained eye may not know what they are looking for the ultrasound techs and doctors do. The genitals may not be fully formed but the angle of the genital tubercle is what they are looking at to determine gender that early on. Google the article "First trimester determination of fetal gender by ultrasound". It is on fetalmedicine.com This is an article about actual medical research that proved gender can be determined based on the genital tubercle angle as early as 11 weeks. The accuracy at 11 weeks was 70.3%, at 12 weeks 98.7%, and at 13 weeks 100%. I'm not wanting to start an argument or offend anyone, I just want everyone to be aware of this research and be as well informed as they can be. I've heard a lot about not being able to tell the gender this early on. This research proves that it is possible.
