With my last one his heart rate started out in the 160-170's but with time he slowed down to the 130-140's about midway thru preg.  I know my daughters was always in the 160-170's and can't remember the middle boys in the beginning but i know by the end he settled into the 130-140's.  Good luck on getting a little girl.....i know it seems to be raining boys here of late.....it would be nice to start evening things up...lol.

From about 10 weeks mine was in the 160-170s. I'm 17 weeks now and it's in the 150s. At my first trimester screening the doctor "guessed" that it's a boy (95% sure!).

Just as a head up they can't tell the gender at 13 weeks. It is not developed enough to even take an educated guess.

It depends on the person doing it really and if the baby is in a good position Never say cant because its done all the time lol

My son's heart rate was in the 150's around 12 weeks and slowed down to the 140's for a long time, and at the very end was in the 120's to 130's. It's normal for baby's heart rates to slow down as they grow. One of my OB's partners that I saw once said she doesn't ever tell people the heart rate because they are always trying to guess gender by it and its just not possible and is just an old wive's tale.

I have also heard that genitals aren't distinguishable until at least 15-16 weeks gestation. They start out looking very similar. He is a website that shows the stages of genitals: http://www.baby2see.com/gender/external_genitals.html

That being said, I know there are people that will disagree and say they knew the gender very early on. So you never know! Good luck getting your girl :)

Very cool gender website....It makes sense why you can't tell if the baby is at the 12 week mark...I always wonder if the reason some can tell at this point is that they are really further along...I mean due dates can be based on LP, but like with me, I can tell you the day I conceived only due to cir****tances, and I am really about 4 days short of the actual due date they give me.  Dr. says if it's within 10 days they use your last period...ten days can make someone much further along in this development than others....

Again, very interesting...

It has nothing to do with the skill, they are not developed enough at 13 weeks. I delivered a perfectly formed and developed baby girl at 17 weeks 3 days last year and even seeing her after she was born it was tricky to tell she was a girl.
