I am almost 2 years post op and right at 150 pounds down!

Has anyone had problems getting pregnant after surgery?? We have been trying (again) for a little over a year now and have only had one miscarriage last year in August. We are now going to see an reproductive endocrinologist in December. I am not ovulating and have even took 3 months of Clomid and even on the max dose I still was not ovulating.

Please let me know if anyone has had this same problem after surgery! Thanks ya'll!!

I'm sorry you are having a rough time ttc! I am about 17mo post op and 145lbs down and having difficulty myself. We have been trying for the last 6 or so cycles and nada. My cycles are all over the place from 21-32 days I have tried opks and never got a positive, thus I really don't think I'm ovulating either. I have an appointment on the 16th to get things in order for clomid. I am sorry it didn't work for you 8(, hopefully the reproductive endo will help 8) I wish I didn't need clomid but its starting to look that way. I am thinking about giving it til the new year and if no bfp then to start on February's cycle. Its all very frustrating, especially when I conceived before wls. Wishing you the best of luck and a blizzard worth of baby dust!!!!

I wish you the best of luck too!! And let me give you a warning...Clomid makes you crazy!! It throws your hormones for a loop! But if it works for you then it will be SO worth it! We are in the exact same boat with the whole situation so hopefully we both will figure out what's going on.

Sometimes trying to hard will cause you to be stressed there for it could make you not ovulate. Try to relax and have fun and be romantic about it.. Dont try to hard . I wish you ladies both good luck and lots of baby dust your way.

I too am having a hard time (emotionally as well) - this is only my second cycle trying post op - but we tried for 6 years per-op......including several rounds of clomid (and I was an emotional nightmare while on that stuff).........anyway, I find this very difficult because we have tried for so long and nothing has happened and I bought into the whole "it will be sooooooo easy post-op" that I am now kicking myself for being so emotionally raw (I really thought it would happen in the first cycle - DUH - slaps forehead) - I should be used to the disappointment - it has been 6 years for the love of peter pan!!!  I have an appointment with my doc on the 20th and if I am not pregnant by then I am sure we will start with plan B - whatever that is........

Anyway - I hope everyone has luck with their process........keep me in the loop with your progress!!!

I understand exactly where you are coming from. I too thought getting pregnant post op would be easy! We tried for 4 years pre op and now a little over a year post op!! So I promise I understand all of your frustrations. We just have to stay positive and keep our heads up! We have been blessed with our weight loss and we will all get that child we want rather it's naturally or medically assisted or through adoption! keep me posted on how your process is going too! It makes me feel so much better to talk about everything with someone who has been through the somethings!

I have been trying to actively conceive since April 2012. I say actively because my husband and I never used any protection in the 8 years we have been together. I did 4 cycles of clomid up to the highest dose. The first round worked whereas I ovulated but it didn't result in pregnancy. The last three cycles was a bust. So last month my OB switched me to Femara 5mg. I went to the dr yesterday for my 13 day ultrasound and I had a follicle of 18 mm. The Doctor stated that he wanted it to be 20mm before he gives me the shot of ovidrel. He advised that is should be about  20 mm today. So I had to come back this morning and get the shot so now I am in the waiting period. Hopefully this will work for me. My fingers and toes are crossed. My doctor said that clomid doesn't work for everybody and it obviously didn't work for me. So hopefully Femara will be the answer. Good luck & baby dust to us all.
