Losing The Baby Weight??

I was curious if anyone has had any experience with losing weight after having a baby after WLS?

How long did it take you to lose your baby weight??

I am 3 years post of RNY as of this year, I weighed in at 132 pounds in Sept 2011 when I found out I was pregnant. I gained 23 pound with my pregnancy, weighing 155 pounds when Baby Girl was born, it is now 4 months post pregnancy and I have only lost 12 pounds weighing in as of this morning at 143.  I have about 13 pounds to go to where I was at before the pregnancy.

How long did it take you to get back down to your pre baby weight and did you go straight back to WLS basics??
My dietician is of NO help and I seem to be getting nowhere with my weight loss.

Thanks for your reply!
Yes, I have heard of the 5 Day pouch test. Ive thought of trying it but, its the same as just going back to basics.  Its just getting started that is always the hard part for me.
Good luck with TTC again!!

I think pregnancy weight is a pretty individual thing, not necessarily related to WLS.  With my first baby (pre op) I gained 20 pounds during my pregnancy and lost it in 2 weeks.  With my post op baby, I gained 18 pounds and lost it in three weeks.  I didn't do anything special either time, I think it is just how my body works.  I know the general rule of thumb is that it took 9 months to put it on, so give yourself 9 months to get rid of it.  You'll get there!  Also, congrats on the baby!

Thank You for your reply.  Its so fun being a Momma, Im just in Love with my lil'one.

I know that it took the 9 months to put it on so, I wont stress too much about how long it will come off.  Ive decided that this whole weight loss thing is just going to ALWAYS be a work in progress.  I just need to remember that although I have at  least 15 pounds I would like to lose, that I am still down over 100 + pounds AND have had a Baby.  Just truly Amazing!!

Thanks so much!!

I was about 4 yrs post op when I got pregnant wtih my son. I gained about 29 lbs with my son who was born at 37 weeks. I was "lucky" in that I lost almost all of it by 6 weeks. However, I think part of that was because I breastfed, had little to no help around the home so was on the go soon after, and also went back to work and routine at 6 weeks. However, I did gain some back, and in order to lose that I did as you said and went back to the basics...high protein, low carb, and exercise...even if only 30 min of walking a day with the baby in the stroller.
