Calling All Post RNY Pregnancies!!
I had gastric bypass 2 and a half years ago and just found out last week that I am now a little over 7 weeks pregnant. We are sooo Excited!! I have a couple questions for those of you that have "been there done that".
1. How much weight did you gain during the pregnancy?
2. Did you lose it again after birth?
3. How long did it take you to lose the weight again?
4. Was losing the weight harder after the pregnancy?
5. Did you have any issues with vitamin levels during the pregnancy?
Cograts on your new little bean!!! I just had my little man 3mo ago and am now 3yrs post rny. i gained 40lbs and am still working on getting it off. My biggest problem is all the stress i have had since delivery as hubby was dignosed with cancer 2wks after delivery so diet has not been good. Been stopping at a lot of ff rest. for quick meals while traveling back and forth for treatments. I am breastfeeding and is going very well. During preg the only vit problems was vit d and b12 had to be increased. I was anemic prior to preg but it did show improvement while preg. dr was surprised by that but i had added vit c to help with absorbtion. During preg i stayed very active with zumba till i was 6mo preg and my labor was the best of the 3. I had asuccessful vbac without any prob. Good luck to ya and hope i helped you out a bit.

For me--the biggest challenge I found was during the pregnacies I could pretty much eat anything without gaining much so I got into bad habits. After I had my babies--I really had to get back into focus, because I started gaining VERY easily afterwards!
Also, for me--I found I dumped very easily compard to when I wasn't pregnan. Before 1st pregnancy--I could eat anything, 1st and 2nd pregnancy, I could only tolerate 15 grams of sugar before dumping. Now after pregnancies--I still can only tolerate about 25 grams as opposed to no limit pre pregnancies.
I was 39 and 41 when I have my 2 babies--so an older mom to boot!

1. How much weight did you gain during the pregnancy?
6lbs
2. Did you lose it again after birth?
Yes
3. How long did it take you to lose the weight again?
A couple of weeks (breastfeeding, lol)
4. Was losing the weight harder after the pregnancy?
No, but I was only a year and some months out from surgery at birth. (Found out I was pregnant 9 months post RNY)
5. Did you have any issues with vitamin levels during the pregnancy?
No, I took my regular RNY regiment of vits, and added a OTC prenatal.Luckily my cravings weren't too bad (light canned peaches, veggies, etc.) However my appetite did increase. I saw the high risk OB for the first few months (b/c of my age 37, and being early post RNY). I didn't have any issues with blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Good luck and I hope you have a pleasant, and peaceful pregnancy!
I am 19 weeks pregnant with twins and have only gaind 9 pounds so far.
My doctor says that I am supposed to gain 35 to 40 pounds for a healthy twin pregnancy
I think that sounds like a lot, but if thats what they say. I want to try to gain the least that I can . . say 30 pounds. . .lol. That still is a lot but we still have the tool to lose the weight after the pregnancy.
We just have to kind of revert back to those beginning months. I'm going to try the 5 day liquid diet to see if that helps but I will probably have to wait until after I'm done breastfeeding. . .If I can even breastfeed with twins!!!! lol.
I hope you get some good answers, but the ones I see so far look good and give me hope :0 )
I just found out 6 months post -op I am pregnant. Today is my birthday too - what a present! I'm a little scared because it is too soon after surgery. I see my doctor on Friday and today will call my surgeon. I don't have a current OB - my youngest is 13.5 years old! Very nervous about everything with a ton of questions. Trying to stay calm but I woke up at 3 a.m. and that's when I tested and I haven't been to sleep again yet. I'm wide awake like it's Christmas morning!
