I am almost 18 weeks and I have noticed that I can hold more food at a time when I eat. When before it only took a small amount to fill me up. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this with your pregnancy? I haven't gained 1 pound the dr said but he said as long as the baby was growing and measuring right that everything was ok. But I am sure eating more and staying hungry.

Congrats, I will be 14 weeks tomorrow.. I'm one of the ones who never got back the feelings of knowing when I'm hungry and full.. So, I just eat what I think I can.. But I have found myself now, some days not wanting to eat at all.. Where other days, I feel like I can eat everything under the sun.. LOL  As long as your little one is doing fine and growing properly, don't worry about gaining.. I was worrying about it in the beginning, but the doctor told me not to worry because I'm doing just fine.. Before I got pregnant I stayed between 185 - 189lbs.. The day I found out I was pregnant I weighed 189lbs, I now weigh 186lbs.. I have gained and lost, but baby is doing fine, so I'm good..

I am 10 weeks and can eat WAY more than I could--it's like endless bottomless pit days and I am hungry ALL the time since the morning sickness stopped.  I also am craving carbs terribly!!!!

Yet another thing we can blame on hormones. The same hormones that relax our muscles and are to blame for the leg cramps, the constipation, etc. are also to blame here. Your stomach (pouch) is a muscle and it, too, is relaxed and can therefore stretch (and hold) more. I've been told it goes back to normal after delivery - something I'm really counting on because I can eat a lot more at a time, too. Still no where close to what I could eat pre-op, but enough that the idea of it staying this way scares me.

This is my second pregnancy, and my first I could eat a truckload of food, and rarely had any dumping etc. After I had my son, my stomach shrunk a bit, but I can still eat significantly more than before I became pregnant. I am only 6 weeks right now, so not much has changed yet, but I am a bit nervous about how much I will be able to eat. If you want to read more on it, it has to do with the hormone relaxin. If you google it, there are a few articles that talk about relaxin and gastric bypass.

Both of my post-VSG pregnancies brought increased capacity, lax restriction and return of true physical hunger, but not until the last trimester.

I can happily report that within a couple weeks of delivery the hunger disappeared again, and within a month to 6 weeks, my restriction returned to normal.

I am 2 years and 7 months post op and I'm 19 weeks pregnant with twins. . .I Definitely feel like I eat more now that I am pregnant. . .but I don't think its more quanitity wise. . .I think its just that I eat more often during the day. I spend the whole day eating, but I eat small amounts every hour and a half or so. I'll eat a banana on whole wheat toast with peanut butter. . .then I'll have my atkins protein shake, then I'll have some cheese, then later I'll have an apple. Then later after that I'll eat some oatmeal. . .and it goes on and on and on. . .lol. But I definitely think I'm doing good, the last time I went to the doctor which was 2 weeks ago I had only gained 9 pounds so that is pretty good I think for having twins. I also feel like I am hungry all day long so I am drinking a LOT more water, make sure you get plenty of water becuase sometimes you may feel hungry but you might just be thirsty

I definitely can eat more than I could when I conceived.  I notice that I eat more frequently, but I still have some restriction as to how much I can eat.  I can't stop drinking milk at least I know that restricting my milk intake later will help eliminate some of the calories I'm ingesting right now.  Also I will be able to finally have deli meat again, which will eliminate the pb&j sandwiches I have been living on at work.  I have gained a few more pounds then I was hoping.  My OB and nutritionist wanted me to gain 30 - 35 lbs and I'm right at 40.  C-section is scheduled in a week and a half, so I'm keeping an eye on the weight this week.  I'm hopeful that I will be able to get back on track after the delivery (baby does not like protein shakes).  I plan on doing the 5 day pouch test after I stop breast feeding to help get things back on track.
