New to pregnancy board-intro and questions
I'm Alice- I'm 2 yrs 8 months post op lap RNY--I started at 278 and have been maintaining around 145 for more than a year. I'm 40-have a 9 yr old and 11 yr old and am now almost 11 weeks pregnant with #3!
My PCP and OB say that I don't need to change anything other than 300-500 calories a day more that OB would like to be milk. I take my chewable vits still- 2 multi vits a day, 3 calcium, a b12 and an iron.
I haven't had a chance to schedule an apt with my surgeon yet to see what advice he has--so I'm looking to those of you expecting to see what you did differently once pregnant--did you add vitamins, change your eating??
How have you done with gaining weight??

Welcome to the board. and Congrats. With my first child, I gained no weight, I was 4months out of surgery, so I actually continued the weightloss, and towards the end of the pregnancy, I leveled out. At my delivery, I was less than my prepregnancy weight. My second child was a different story, I gained 45 pounds with him, and was not able to loose all the weight before taking in yet again with number three. But this pregnancy, is almoust mirror to my first, I am not loosing weight, but I am not gaining either. I am eating more but of the fruits and veggies, trying to limit my carbs, and upping my protiens, not skahes any more, but fish chicken turkey, and broccoli. So far so good, I still take all my vitamins, and all my children are healthy and so am i. Good luck on your journey, wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy and little one.
I am having a horrible time--I have been in maintenance for almost 18 months prior to the pregnancy where my weight stayed constantly between 142 and 147. Now I am 153! and only 11 weeks. I didn't put any weight on until the past 2-3 weeks but I am hungry constantly and craving carbs--so not only have I been eating more but I am not making the wisest food choices all the time-- I still eat a minimum of 80-100 grams of protein but I find not only do I want to eat more but I can eat more in one sitting. I also have stopped exercising since I am tired all the time and the exercise made it un manageable. I am hoping I can level things off soon.
Its NORMAL. Some people gain more in the begining and level out towards the end others dont gain till the end. Remember though that the baby does most of the growing around this time, and your metabolism is through the roof. If you can not manage with the vigorous work out, then walk around the house, or go up and down the stairs as your body allows. As long as your doing the things that are required of you nutritionally, a cookie or two, or a slice of cake wont kill you. I was a subway sandwich junkie when I was pregnant with my first son, but can you believe I did not gain a pound. I did fruits veggies and protien with my second son, I gained over thirty pounds, but as soon as I had him, I was able to drop twenty right off the back, got preggos again before I could get the last 10 or so off. This pregnancy though, no cravings, no crazy appetite, just easy going. If not for the sleepy spells, I would seriously question if I were trully preggo. Hang in there, and enjoy this time. I always say GB is a tool, it is not the answer. You know the rules of the weightloss game. When you have had your baby implement the plays, for both you and your baby, and you will have a healthy lifestyle. Love always,
Sue.
Sue.
Thanks Sue. I don't remember hunger like this with either of other pregnancies but they were pre-wls so I ate whatever I felt like it when ever I felt like it. I know a big part of this is the fear of being my pre op size at the end of the pregnacy! I am trying to eat every 3 hrs planned out things to see if that helps with the continuous cravings to eat junk!!
I would LOVE a sub but my OB said NO to any deli-meats! because of the chance of listeria!
