just a little update on glucose test
yesterday when i was at the birthing center for a birthing class i ran into my midwife and asked her about my results. since it had been a week and i didn't hear anything i assumed all was well. but i wanted to make sure. she looked and the results weren't in my file. oh no....she went into another room for further investigation and came back with the results. apparently normal range is below 139, i landed at 138. woah. just baaaaaaarely slipped by. kind of dissappointed in myself for being that close. but at the same time extremely grateful, considering my past. i was worried because they kept saying what does this mean? special diet? retake test? oh no...i thought i was in the clear. oh god i started to get really worried. but they came back and said i was in the clear and just left it at that. i am soooo grateful.
i have been induldging in sweets and carbs like nobody's watching. lol. but i'm gonna be better. because that was a scare. and plus i need to be healthier for the baby. in my birthing class they said if you eat lots of carbs your baby will grow to be too big (chunky baby) and it will make the process of getting him out (from the shoulders down) a lot more difficult and painful. *gulp*. **** it better straighten up and fly right!! no more candies! i will however have an occasional ice cream though.
i need a new approach to water drinking. i try to get 64 oz a day. but its a challenge. my whole thing is i try to drink a bottle of water at a time. thats the challenge. my midwife says i should be drinking 10% of my body weight. that means i'd have to drink 12 bottles of water a day!!! pffft. yeah right!!!! i can barely do 4! still, something to aim for. i'm gonna try a diff approach. instead of trying to do a whole bottle i'll just do the sip sip sip throughout the day thing. its a challenge when you have a small pouch because for me water empties me out. so i have to eat. then i have to wait to digest to drink more water. then i have to eat again. until it becomes you're eating and drinking all day long!

For what it is worth, I was a carb monster during both of my pregnancies, and both babies were barely 6 lbs (41 and 40 weeks respectively). Don't let them scare you too much! And, lets face it, no matter how small your baby is, getting it out hurts, lol!
As for the water, 10% of your body weight in ounces? or all out 10%? I've heard 50% in ounces before, so if you weighed 150 lbs you should drink 75 ounces. 10% of your total body weight seems like a **** ton of water (yes, that is a technical term).

girrrrlll, i'm telling you!! sounds like water poisoning to me! i think they just give you a ridiculously high number like that just to get you to drink more. i don't think anyone actually does 10%. they say 10% of your weight in 10 oz quantities. right now i'm 204lbs so i calculated it would mean drinking about 12 to 12 1/2 16oz bottles of water a day. psh. i'm gonna try to shoot for 5 bottles instead of 4. and maybe increase it every 2 weeks if i can. i think the goal is just to drink more in general.
thanks for the piece of mind with the carb stuff. its good to know if i have moments of insanity its not the end of the world!!! i mean i'm not even that big. right now he's 3lbs. someone told me he was chunky for growing 1.5lbs in 4 weeks. but i don't know what normal is. who knows how big he'll be. The ppl at the ultrasound place tell me he's right on track.

I know how you feel with the water. I like to put frozen strawberries or lemons in my water to give it a kick. I struggle with choosing food vs water since we cant have both at the same time without getting extremly full or nausous. I tend to choose food cause I get hungry every 2 hrs to the point of dizziness. so I am going to challenge myself that in that 2 hr period try to drink a certain amount of water then after enough time passes eat my snack. almost all my pregnancy complaints I found go back to not enough water. who would of thought cramps and headaches can be signs sometimes of dehydration geez can be frustrating but keep us posted we should challenge eachother with a certain water goal a day!
