Femara

I tried 4 rounds of clomid. The last round was 150mg and out of the 4 times I only ovulated once, which was the first month.  Now my OBGYN says she is going to try me on Femara. I read about it online and I see that its for cancer treatment. Does anyone have any experience with this drug that you can share with me? Have you used it before and what was the outcome. Thanks.

hi!  i tried 2 rounds of clomid and was anovulatory (didn't get a period) - ended up having low response.  i tried femara and got 2 mature eggs and tried IUI.  Unfortunately it didn't work for me, but i liked femara much better than the clomid!  i moved on to injectables after 1 round of femara.  those didn't work either but going back to the RE in the fall after a year and a half of taking a break and recovering from VSG.

good luck to you!

I did use Femara and it made me produce more eggies.  I do not have PCOS and at that point did not know how stinkin infertile d/t unknown cause i was.. moved on to IVF,, this is my 3rd try and i'm in my 2 week wait.. all that being said, Femara worked for me, ovulation wise,, and i had a wierd side effect, when i was on it, i got a stabbing pain in my hip joint, but i guess i'm an odd one.;) hope it works for ya.

Thank you ladies for your input. I hope it works because my husband is getting restless. I don't know how much more of this he can take. He is getting antsy and asking how long are we going to keep trying.  sandymiller10 good luck with your 2ww

I was also Clomid resistant, even at the maximum dosage. I did one round of Femara, with other combination of meds and success for me. It is a medication used for breast cancer treatment. The good thing for me was it was covered under my insurance since not looked at as a fertility drug so much cheaper than the clomid. My son turns 5 this month! Good Luck!

Thanks for the Hope SassySamara.  My fingers are crossed and prayers are up. I was wondering why the clomid was $75 and the femara was $5.

I was clomid resistant. Went to femara. I now have a 4 month old and a 2 yr old. Works well and way less side effects than clomid.

Good luck. I loved it. If and when we decide for a 3rd... we will use femara again.
